starter plate identification

Hey I have a 91 talon tsi fwd and need to find an image or good description of the correct starter plate for my vehicle. The one thats on there now is not letting the starter engage the flywheel correctly but when I loosen the bolts it gets better I dont want to put washers or a rigged spacer if I dont have to. Any input would be greatly appreciated I just joined today and this is my first post thankyou.

Did this randomly start happening? Describe the issue a little more. Does the starter free spin or not crank the motor over?

It turns the motor over a little like the first half turn then u hear it spinning.

Its just not turning it over to its full potential. The starter plate bolt holes r a little off so when u slide the bolts in to mount the starter u can see that they are crooked makeing the starter bolt up at a slight angle I just drilled the plate holes out and am fixing to try it again.

The part number for the starter plate you want is MD008892. The last 3 digits "892" will be stamped into the plate.

Thankyou I couldnt find the # anywhere. One more thing can u see the stamped # from any angle without takeing the engine or tranny apart

I don't believe so. The stamped number is located between the two upper bolt holes on the plate.

Not really, you'd at least need to have the engine and tranny separated enough to get a look at the plate.
