Hey all, I’ve been told mixed things about starter motor interchangeability and research has also given me insanely mixed responses.

What starters can be used on my car, I keep having starter motor issues in terms of after a bit it’ll start fine and then later will end up grinding. I’m changing the flywheel soon and want to make sure I have the correct starter so it doesn’t mess each other up and I don’t have to get another flywheel.

I currently have a 7 bolt Evo 1-3 motor with a 1.8t GSR gearbox and a 6 bolt starter motor, which looked very different from the one I had when I bought the car, however that part number suggested it was out of a Colt. Though the Galant one seemed a bit skinny and also made a clunking noise upon cranking.
