We'll I put my engine back in this week. Got everything bolted up and started her up it rattled like crazy so I thought it was just where the engine was new and it took a while to get oil to everything I also primed the engine before I started it to prevent this. Getting scared that maybe I screwed up timing it I immdeiately pulled the alternator belt off and took the crankshaft pulley off to check the timiing mark's every thing is fine the crand is lined up correctly with the timing marks on the front case so is the oil pump and the camshaft's are at 12:00 position with the dowels up top and the timing marks facing each other even with the top of the head. So I know all this is right I put everythign back together and start the car and decide to let it idle it quiten's down and I let it idle for about half an hour I then try to drive it home and it will not hardly run it started pinging and making the awfulest sound's ever was I took it back to the garage and parked it I have no idea what it wrong the engine is freshly built with all brand new part's. The only thing I can think of is the cam angle sensor was off the head when I got it I had to reinstall it Ilined up the little divot in the back with the dot on the case of the sensor thinking this is what u should do and installed it. Does anyone have any idea's on what could be wrong this is the only transportation I have now and I can't even drive it after sinking all this money into it. I'm going to try to mess with the timing tomorrw and see if that helps any.

You said you put a new engine in your car. What kind off car is it and did you rebuild it or someone else???? Also what kinda motor is it??? How good of shape are your motor mounts in????

I had a shop rebuild it they did everything correct checked all clearanses and everything, lind honed, decked the block, digitially balanced the whole rotating assembly. Got new wiseco 9-0-1 piston's with eagle rods and acl bearing's with all arp fasteners also the balance shaft's are removed. The motor mounts are fine that would not cause this issue it's like its only firing on three cylinder's I also have a brand new coil pack and power transistor. I'm goign to install the timing cover tomorrow and check the timing I know I don't have it at 5 degrees btdc. Hopefully this will help any other suggestion's?

Your timing could be off that would be best to check. The cam gear's marks line up but does the key on the camshaft in the center of the cam gear point in the same direction?

If it seems like it is only running on three cyclinders then try taking each spark plug wire out one at a time while the car is running. To see if all of the cylinders are firing. Also recheck the wire order and see if there correct.

Yes both dowel pins point straight up to the 12:00 posotion. The other timing marks are right as we'll I really don't know what is wrong with this thing LOL its dring me nut's. The plug that plugs into the power transistor is broke and doesn't want to fit in tight also the fuel injector's are the same would this cause this? I really need to get this car up and running asap. Thank's guy's.

Alright guy's thank's for all the reply's. Here are my exact symptoms from starting the car up I let it idle then decided to drive it home it was like my plugs are crossed or like I said only firing on two or three cylinder's has no power, and misfire's like crazy, pinging noises and rattling noises from engine bay. By the time I got the car back up to the grage it was overheating almost in the red I didn't drive it hard and not even a mile maybe like 100 feel or something I really hope I didn't hurt it that would suck after just having the head reworked!!! Also I checked the plug's there right, also forgot to mention I had no powersteering either. Im really confused on this one keep the advice coming guy's Im going to recheck everythign tomorrow once again thank's!!!!

Can you check the timing with a timing light? I believe your CAS might be off because you took it off. You said the power transistor plug was broken how so?

Theres a main pully that runs your water pump and altonator. They also drive your power steering belt. If the car is over heating and does not have power steering then most likly your battery ginog to be dead soon also. Check your altonator belt.:thumb:

Did you replace the gaaskets on the Throttle Body ? They are different on the 90 . Could be a huge boost leak . Plugs are gapped at 28 ? All ground wires are in place .

Yeah I haven't messed with the throttle body any and also im pretty sure all ground wires are in place where all are they and ill double check tomorrow. Keep them coming guy's again thank's also I reinstalled the cas according to rre page.

compression, spark, fuel, timing, air, 5 things you need for a gas engine to run pull the plugs and check them to see if they look out of the ordinary are you sure all the fuel injectors are hooked up? if your timing is off it can cause you to over heat but not having power steering id probably say a belt other than that i would know maybe something with the knock sensor also

The only i was trying to say is take 1 step at a time. If you check all your ignition compontants and they are working properly. Then move on to your fuel system etc. There alot more then just 5 things to make a motor run correct im not trying to prove you wrong or anyone im tryin to help him out with his problem. And yes Air,Fuel,Spark, compression, and timing are all used to make combustion in a motor.

Fix that transistor plug! You probably have more than 1 problem, but if that gets fixed at least you'll probably be running on 4 cylinders!
