hey, i am rebuilding my 2g 4g63 engine (yes the 7 bolt) to standard specs and i was wondering what the bore size is. i did try a search but i only found specs for the 420a. also if you know could you tell me all of the bearing clearances?

thanks alot, steve

I believe the bore is 85mm, correct me if I'm wrong though.

Do you need bearing clearences for just the block, or the head too? I'd invest in a chiltons/haynes manual or the CD for all of those.

I've got a haynes with me (I'm at work), but its a 90-94 (for my 6-bolt motor) I've got the 95-2000 as well, but its in my garage

thanks alot man, would you be able to tell me in inches? summit racing displays the ring sets in inches instead of millimeter or could someone give me a link to a good set? i have every part except the rings so they are the only thing holding me back from starting

thanks alot, steve

one more thing guys, there are 2 sets exactly the same except for the oil ring, one has 3mm oil ring and the other has a 2.8mm oil ring. what one is needed for my stock pistons? or doesnt it matter what one i use?

thanks again, steve

From my 7-bolt rebuild experience, sizing 2g crank bearings is a nightmare. Your block has a bunch of stamps on it that represent the bore's diameter. The OEM bearings are supposed to be color coded, or numbered, but mine weren't. You reference the block stamp with the bearing markings to get oil clearances right. There are 5 different sizes of bearings available from Mitsu. You NEED to get a machine shop's help getting your oil clearances straight for a 7-bolt.

Make sure the crank and block are the same temperature when you measure them if you're trying to be precise. I think I had all of my clearances spec'd at .0015". Plastigage is crap. I can't stress that enough. Use a micrometer and a bore gauge.
