Chantry,
So, I was driving down the road yesterday when my '97 turbo Talon began to sputter and then stalled. First try at restart sounded like I had no battery power (click click click click), second try, same thing... waited a couple minutes (say, 3 or 4) and then she fired up almost like normal, except she threw 5 codes!! The codes were: p0100, p1400, p1500, p1600, and p0551. I've looked them up, and my question is how likely is it that all these codes are all real?? Is it MORE likely that my ecu is acting up? I've never had any of these codes 'pop' before and they seem kinda all over the place... Anyone else had a similar experience? ... Once she started up, I turned around and drove home with no issues at all... it just strikes me as a little strange... I HOPE I posted this in the right spot, if not, I'm sorry! ANY info would be welcome! Thanks everyone!

According to my manual..

>> "Harness and connector" is a primary check for all of these codes

They ALL share the engine control module connector.

>> I would check the connector on the engine control module by taking it off and re-seating it

Another notable thing is that engine control module failure is a symptom for all these codes.

>> I would erase the codes and pretend it never happened till it does it again.

I'm attaching an example of one of the codes, so you can see.

YES, you are all over the place and would bet on the engine control module failure.

Good luck

Ok, so I just went oot to the garage to check a few more things on the Talon, and it now appears that the battery as well as the alt are dead! At first I thought it was simply the battery, but when I boosted it, as soon as I pulled the booster cables off, she'd sputter and shut down. Would a messed up ecm kill the alt?? Would a dying alt trigger the codes I listed above? Or am I lookin' at replacing battery alt, and ecm (which is what I'm thinkin')? Thanks fer all the help everyone!
