SRS Questions

well i bought a Talon about four months ago in pieces and i've slowly been putting it back together. I had my state inspection this morning and i'm proud to say it passed almost everything. the damn srs system is keeping my car down. When i got the car it had no airbags on either side. I got some and put them in but the damn light is still on.

okay so what i'm wondering is if the light is on because something in the system is still messed up. I know there's no way to reset the light unfortunately.

also i'm curious if the light will go off if everything is correct. I've read through many posts and some people say that when everything is correct it will shut off and others say that no matter what you have to go to the dealer to get it shut off.

also if anyone knows if it has to be a mitsu dealer or if it can be any dealer that would be helpful. i know some guys but the work with fords and dodges.

I really wanna get it on the road so i can enjoy it!

Check your local body shops who they use for SRS issues. But don't get your hopes up.

My local mechanic was able to clear the light using his scan tool. He did it for me for free.

Have you unhooked your battery to reset the srs light (works on most cars). If you need any pieces for the srs i have a 95 parts car just to let you know.

Unhooking the battery won't reset the lights on our cars (at least in my experience). The only way I could clear it was using the mechanics scan tool.

yeah tried the battery trick. I'm paying the money to get it scanned this afternoon. talked to my buddy who's a mechanic and he says he can't do it kause he doesn't have the rom pack for it. if there are any mechanics out there is it possible to just reset the light with any mechanics tool or does he have to have the actual pack?
