hey i just replaced my crank pulley and my belt has been squealing, i had the water pump pullleys off and put them on with the dish facing the motor the first time and with the old belt it squealed and chewed it, then i put a new one on and it was good for a day or two then it chewed and squealed, so i took the whole day to flip the outer pulley on the water pump to the dish facing out and when i started it up it was nice and quiet and all seemed good then i went to drive it and it squealed!!! i have no clue what the hell is going on please help!!!

I had this exact problem when I first got my GST. I replaced the water pump, then alternator. Honestly look into the harmonic balancer. It's a common problem with these cars (so i've heard). I changed mine and have never had the problem again.

i just replaced the crank pulley

im hearing mix opinions on what direction the outer waterpump pulley is supposed to go?

If you have a parts store belt or a cheap belt you are going to want to go to your dealer and get an OEM belt. For some reason foreign engines hate parts store belts.

You may need to take a piece of sand paper or a small wire brush and clean up your pulleys. Once a belt starts slipping, it can form a glaze on the pulley causing any new belt to slip, even when tight.

Try that and a new belt.

^ wow never thought of that, that's good thinking. But like the other posts make sure the pulley is on the correct way and the belt is on straight.

I actually just had a belt shear off on me this morning  Not fun. The car would drive but didn't want the car to overheat from not running the water pump. It was a part store one  Lucky a highway patrol stopped by and gave me a lift to my place to pickup a spare OEM I had for my other car. I finally had a personal experience where my taxes are going to :p
