i have a 90 gsx that has a spun rod bearing, i haven't taken apart the engine so i don't know if the crank is bad or not. i'm just going to assume it's shot and needs replaced. can anyone tell me what i'm looking at price wise to replace all the bearings and the crank? also is there anything that i'm missing. the car has 2g rods in it.
thanks

Are you sure it has 2g rods? Or does it have 2g pistons? 2g rods is a down grade from 90 "Big Rods," but the 2g pistons have a higher compression ratio which would make sense.

Replacing the rod bearings are not cheap. You basically have to rebuild the whole motor. I can't give your price, because I have yet to rebuild my own. And when I do, most of the parts will be upgraded and I will do a large portion of the work myself.

If you do rebuild the motor, make sure to replace the oil pump gears.

my fault, i was trying to type while in class :nono: it's got big rods w/ 2g pistons

the engine was rebuilt w/ less than 25k miles on it. seeings how i have limited money would i be able to get away w/ just rebuilding the block and leaving the head alone?

Yes, that is very possible. As long as the timing never jumped or some other freak accident that would cause the piston to smack and bend the valve. From your description that hasn't happened. So most likely, just the bottom end needs rebuilding.
