Its hit and miss. Ive seen some cranks with spun bearings that looked fine but needed cut or polished at best. If you plan on just changing them with it in the car, at least try and get some journal clearances with a mic and use a plastigauge when re assembling, then check rod clearances and such.

The proper way to do it is to just take teh crank to a machine shop to check it out thoroughly and clean everything because there is most like bearing debris all through the engine which will cause future failure again even if everything checks out. Good luck if you plan on doing it in the car, its def a game of russian roulette thought for sure unless you do it 100% proper.

hey man thanks,
i was wondering what a set of bearings willl run me from your shop, ? acl?

spun rod bearing!! i just bought the car and it had a spun rod bearing and i was wondering what route i should go on fixing the problem im new to the scene since i had always had V-8s the car has 150,000 so im pretty sure i might as well just rebuild the motor correct? and if so what rebuild kit should i go with?

my car spun a bearing 2 crank looked fine put it back together didnt make it 2 min and it spun it again and locked up i used assembly lube and all the odds of it working are very slim i just wish i would have saved the 40 dollars and put it towards a new motor/crank complete waste of money and time

Yeah guys, if you spin a bearing, dont chance it, get every thing checked and cleaned before putting it back together!!
