I will be there. blackcar is undecided, that parts and money hungry little toid.

if you need any parts let me know, plus if it breaks at the track you can use my trailer to bring it home.
Will do, on the first offer, I'll be knocking wood (as usual) on the second, thanks for offering.

Just got the notice off the ChicagoAutox list. Glad to see you got it posted up.

Make sure to bring track pads. RA is tough on brakes.

Steve

And bring an extra oil filler cap.:p :p Meaning you underradar92, but I guess that means this year I have to bring 4 spare axles with the GSX

I am not sure whether I want to be in A group or B, I not worried about my driving skills but more of having to work the bugs out of a brand new race car. Plus if for some reason if the GSX breaks I don't want to be up against 500hp cars in a stock srt-4

Anyone need a 5-speed AWD tranny? I'm coming up and just thought any of you guys might wanna help me clean up my garage. I gotta full driveshaft too....

What group is everyone going into, I know schemauer is in A. But who is is planning on going in what groups.

I am thinking B but if underadar, steve or wort are going to be in a certain class, I might tag along.

Remember FBody requires a SN 2000 helmet this year. I have to retire my old Bell SN 95. I think I'm running in Group A - I told them to put me in A or B. I like A - but my car is way underpowered in that group.

Ok, it's official. Not enough paychecks till MFBA. I will be there, just no blackcar. :sosad:

Very intresting day for things to go wrong. First session of the day went really good, the hoosiers grip nice, flat footed through kink and 12-13-14. This time I could go through the carosel at 80-85 coming in and 90-95 coming out versus in october I only could go about 65-70 in. The track is really cool with 13 now. Its not so much of a turn as its just a curve. Its so weird seeing snow piled up on the sides of the track.

But then for some reason murphy reared its ugly head, coming into turn 6 the dipstick blew out and sprayed everything with oil, got towed in on the flat bed and started fixing it and cleaning everything off. Jumped in the car and started it and it was making a really funky grinding noise, but as soon as I touched the clutch pedal it went away. started looking for answers, what it came down to was the clutch master blew the front seal also. Which would explain why I couldn't downshift into 4th to save my life.

Well I ran home and stole the master off my enduro car, got it put in. BUt that noise was still there. So then I tried to put it in gear to see if it went away, clutch wasn't disengaging enough. We rebled it, still didn't change anything. Then we put a nut in the slave to make the push rod longer to see if it was a travel or a worn spot in the slave. I could then get it in gear, so I went out for a run. Pulled out on to the pit lane and opened her up, the R's went up and I didn't hardly move, pulled in at the end of pit lane to go back to the pit stall.

After a bunch a dicking around, I called it quits and grabbed my B-in-law Neon ACR and finished the day out in that. Very Intresting to say the least, (he never told me it had blizzaks on the rear). THat made for an intresting entry to turn 5, for a reference I had the wheels crank to the lock trying to gain control of the rear and I got it pulled out straight. The corner workers were all clapping, couple of the guys from WIDSM forum and underradar were thinking I was screwing around using the ebrake, well I wasn't. I was hanging on for dear life, praying the rears would stick going through the kink.

Well, I got the talon home and took the tranny off and it turns out that the clutch disc was faulty, I put it in a month ago so its brand new. And one of the sides friction material was completley gone ( not worn off but completly missing) while the other side was like brand new yet. It was not caused by oil or anything like that.

I will try to post up pics and hopefully video when I get done tommorrow.

Grand total of things to go wrong for this weekend:

1. dipstick popped out
2. Clutch master seal broke
3. 1 set of 1 month old axiss brake pads, 1 set of friction tech pads BRAND NEW (completely gone in one session)
4. 2 clutch discs
5. broke a brass tee on the back of the intake for the brake booster and boost gauge
6. Turbo return tube gasket leak
7. one set of calipers (I cooked the seals with the first set of pads.

The amazing part was no one destroyed there car. I believe there were oply 3 cars brought in on the flat bed, me (dipstick blew and oil was dripping every where), A blue Corvette that just lost power (electrical), There was another car that dumped a ton of oil in the kink that got towed in but I don't know what kind of car it was.

I finally can drive the track with the late apexing mentality, with being a circle track racer late apexing is greek to me. When my car roasted the brakes I borrowed my B-in-law's Neon ACR. With it being N/A and under HP, it was easier for me to enter and exit with late apexing and not lifting the inside tire and feathering it to get traction. I must say that neon was almost as quick as my GST in corning and braking, but top end I would get killed by the vettes.

The last Pic is 13 without the bridge

I've seen some weird clutch discs before - but nothing that looked like that one. One side was almost brand new and the other was worn to the rivets. DSM's will never cease to amaze you as to the new things that can go wrong with them. One of the reasons I bought a dedicated track car was to be able to take it to the track and beat on it all day and not have to worry so much about things going wrong. Track days were becoming too stressful when I ran my 2g......

The Archer Talon ran strong all weekend after a bit of a thrash to get it together. I dropped the car off at the shop a few weeks ago to do a timing belt replacement. I hadn't changed it since I bought the car and wanted to get it done. The project grew from there... new water pump and timing pulleys/tensioner, removed balance shafts, had the head totally gone through and freshened. Anyway, all of this was a pile of parts on Saturday morning at 11 when I stopped in at the shop. I had to be to the track Sunday a.m. The car was back together and had a few dyno pulls by 3 in the afternoon. I have to give props to Beyond Redline here in Green Bay for getting everything done - and done well. No leaks or problems at all.

This was the first time I'd had the engine tore down since I bought the car. We were amazed to find a stock head gasket and the stock "stretch" head bolts still in the engine. This was in a car that ran endurance races for at least a full season back in '93 when it was raced and won the championship. Just goes to show the reliability one can obtain with proper tuning and conservative boost levels.

Anyway, on the dyno the car made 190 hp at the wheels at 14 psi.
