James, with his mods, is probably in TTD.

I am in TTC, but with a big cushion to TTB. I got killed on my suspension. And my tiny turbo, might as well get a big one if I'm gonna get points anyway! And, yes, I am thinking seriously about making the jump to TT once I learn to drive.

Jim, finally got Jessica around to getting some pictures done for you for the Speedseekers weekend. Larger Res available on request.

Fixed the Supra.. which I have been told has a strange resemblance to the Tibereon that was at RA that weeked.

Hmmm I feel an banning coming on! I've heard the roadrace mod is like a fountain of knowledge an is quite popular with other board members (espeically the ladies!).

PS I have 1/2 of my small garage insulated last and halagen lights hung too. I think I will start pulling Jessica's motor for rebuild next weekend.

Rich -Is a 2:40 - 2:42 at Road America competitive in TTC??
Scott

Probably.

The winning S2000 in TTC got into the high 2:30s on Sunday, but he is moving up to TTB. So his time is probably not representative of next year's TTC competition.

If NASA ever posts the times from Road America (it takes them forever to post times and standings), check the TTC winners (except for the S2000) to get an idea of a good lap time.

Bear in mind that it was bitterly cold and a little damp, so the times are off by 1-3 sec over a hot track.

Hope to see you out there next season in TTC. I don't need any more competition in TTB.

With UnderRadar running in TTC, you in TTC, me in TTB or TTA, and a few more from Chicago running gawdonlyknowswhere, DSMs have a chance to dominate several classes in the Midwest next year. Geez, we might even take a few National wins. Remember, you don't have to have a fully modified screamer to be a national champ in TT. It is conceivable that DSMs could win national championships in everything from TTD to TTU (all you need in TTU is 495 reliable horsepower to run with the Evo)

In my opinion it all depends on who shows up, their actual performance, and the weather. In the cold and rain Saturday and out of the competitor's that ran, Rich's 2:42 was best in TTB and TTC. The TTC driver's did a best of 2:43 and 2:45. On Sunday the best in TTC was 2:39 and several more in the mid 2:40's.

Road America seems to favor a wide contact patch since many of the fastest cars were on 275's or better! There are several sweepers where a wide tire helps immensely (think Carousel, Canada Corner, Turn 5, 6, 8). The point penatly isn't that bad for wider tires (1 point per 20mm over stock) so in my opinion it's a good place for modding. I'm planning on putting 275's on my Stealth. Rich wants to try 255's.

There's also the opportunity for some aerodynamic advantage in several of the high speed sweeper corners. We watched cars with big wings, lips, etc. eat up other cars in the Kink, turn 7, and to a lesser extent turn 1. But it was noticeable as a spectator, so that translates to BIG gains in lap times.

Rich was making good lap times from his hp to weight ratio and through aggressive cornering. With better stick (wider tires and some aero) he'll be very dangerous at RA and NASA. Is it April yet????

NASA results are posted at mylaps.com:

Here are the results from the last Road America event Oct. 21-22:

Back to your original question of what is a good time for TTC? Discarding the S2000 (who is going to TTB next year), the 2nd place TTC turned a 2:46, so you have a dang good chance of winning TTC with your 2:43 times in the Archer car!

Another thing to consider: With all that great handling you seem to have, you should be even more competitive on tracks like Autobahn, MidAmerica Motorplex and Blackhawk, where horsepower is not as important as it is at RA.

Are we talking to next year's national champ in TTC?
The Archer Brothers would be proud to see their car win one more time.

Just don't mod it up to TTB! Grrrrrr.

Rich

Scott, have you checked the TT rules yet? with your stockish appearing brakes, turbo, suspension, etc, you may actually be close to TTD!

stealthTT, Aaron may not like the "/Paul's" tag :shhh:

stealthTT/lethal_vr4, thanks to you both and Jess for the extra several thousand words (a pictures worth) as they helped the story come alive. :thumb:

Not sure what brakes you have on the Archer car, but if it's fwd they'll count the dual piston brakes as a brake upgrade assessing them the same points as a full stoptech kit as they don't fall under the update/backdate rule since no fwd came with the dual pistons.

I think that NSX MIGHT be the one from the Street car challange, which happened to win the road course by 3 seconds over the next fastest car.

The thing also has like 250K$ into it though LOL
If you mean the Sport Compact Car magazine shootout, I doubt it as that shootout car is turbo'd and the one at R.A. had a positive displacement supercharger.

Kyle, I was unaware of that rule loophole. :(

underradar92: with that axle, I had to order one from rockauto, took until the 23 to get it. Why is it that the auto parts stores never carry anything or acknowledge that there are differences for the 93-94, such as head bolts and cv shafts. I ordered three different axle from advanced and AutoZone and they were all for the 90-92.5 with the 25 spline trans side. For 93-94 DSM changed to 27 spline. The only reason why that axle broke was the guy who I bought the car from welded a 27 spline tulip to a 25 spline shaft.

You're fine as the awd's do fall under the update/backdate rule. Fwd's are deemed a completely different car so the swap is not allowed. We're also asessed an additional 7 points to start with since we're lighter than you guys :(

I had mentioned this in regards to Scott's car as he is running 2 piston OEM type brakes.

I'm getting all imaginable points on my current brakes.

Sorry for the misleading comment.
