Speedometer question please help

I have this strange problem when its cold out. My speedometer squeaks and show very inaccurate readings. Only when its cold. And i found out if i pound the dash. It goes form a howl to a squeal. Pull the cluster and check the speedo cable socket on the back. Try adding a little silicone-based (or other plastic safe) grease to it and the cable end.

And stop pounding the dash before you break something else.
