My speedometer isn't working (Please help)

okay, i turned on my car today to drive my little brother in it, and its not working. Everything else works, my rpm's are working but not my speedometer it just sits at zero. Can anyone please help?

I had the same problem with mine. Ill bet your speedometer cable is broken. If your are not sure how to replace it ill help you out. It runs from the back of your cluster all the way down to the top of your tranny.

pull the gauge cluster out (real real easy, takes maybe 5 mins once you've done it a couple of times)

see if the end of the speedometor cable spins when you start driving... if it doesn't move, then your cable is either broken or unhooked from the tranny..

if it does move, then it's possible that the inside of the speedometor gauge is screwed up.. this happened to me when i had a 94 eclipse.. though i could hear the gears grinding away inside of the speedo gauge

Does your odometer work? If so then its the speedo itself, if not then its something with the cable or the sensor/gear thing on the tranny.

^^ On a 1G it's usually the cable.

2Gs are electronic.

If you need a new cluster, eBay is your friend.

Ya, i know about THAT thread. I posted in it when it fixed my problem before. My sensor is in perfect condition. The plug was ALL the way down, i pulled the cluster and the connections looked fine. STILL no speedometer! If someone would do me a favor and look at the wires on the sensor plug and let me know what they are that would be awesome. My car is apart right now with no tranny so i want to run the wires back to the ecu and see if there is a break.
