When I bought my 97 TSI the speedometer didnt work. It wasnt really a big deal at the time. But now that shes in alot better shape its beginning to be one of those things that is getting increasingly annoying. Now I figured at first it was the cluster but no..I recently ran the torque app with the obd2 and even on the app the speedometer isnt working. I need my speed to calculate some data ive been trying to put together...any help would be appreciated. Thx

Make sure that the speed sensor on the top of the tranny is plugged in, a google search will show you the location

On top of this, make sure that the speedo gear is on the speed sensor. To rule out the sensor, try taking it out of the transmission and hook it up to a drill and have a friend/family look at the cluster as you run the drill. If the MPH move when you run the drill with the key on then you know the sensor is good. If it doesn't move, Replace the sensor, if it does, look into replacing the gear or try attaching it to the speed sensor.
