It usually does require about twice the power OR a more efficient enclosure.

Say going from a sealed first order to a vented second order usually yields about a 3dB gain on the same wattage.

Seriously, the moderators needed to come in here and censor out a technical discussion that is on topic with "speakers?" How mature.

It is possible to have a technical discussion on almost anything. However the pool of qualified participants varies from topic to topic and sometimes inversely proportional to the size of the total participant pool.

As long as the noise to signal ratio remains within acceptable bounds we don't have to worry about censoring.

Polk makes the best speakers IMO. But I can't afford those so I usually run pioneer as well which kinda suck. If you have the money to spend than try to get some Polk or infinity. Otherwise kicker. Pioneers really suck if you're a music quality kindof guy like I am.

First thing what type of music do you listen too? If you listen to rock, you want a all around 3 way with a good range (hz 60 - 400 ). If your into any type of bass get 2 ways all around (20-200hz) and get nice tweeters, hopefully if applicable. If you just want sound go to the junkyard. Ps 6x9s in the rear are shallow mounts, its a long job to mold anything else in (i know 4 panels later and Hours of learning).

No need for hostility man. I use pioneers as well because theyre cheap but they are not as good as others. I listen to bass heavy music and pioneers do not compare. Polk or infinity are on a whole different level than pioneer.

Pioneer makes nice speakers that are right on par or better than other brands in their respectrive price ranges. Its not just the speakers fault, if you are powering these with just a headunit of course they are going to sound crappy. Try amping them and actually dialing them in, you might be surprised. Can't really rag on a 120 dollar set of speakers comparing them to infinitys and such that cost 2 to 5x more. Sony also makes some really nice amps now that they're CEA 2006 compliant, but their speakers and subs are still garbage. The signal to noise ratio on a lot of them is unacceptable. They sound muddy.
Kicker makes 'ok' speakers, but honestly Kickers quality has gone into the toilet since 05. I won't buy any of their stuff anymore. Stay away from Boss Audio, Blaupunkt,Pyle,Pyramid Audio, Jvc, Jensen, Volfenhag, DUAL and a few others.
