Hi all,

I got some info about South Bend Clutches that I wanted to post.

Here are the torque ratings for some of their clutches:

HD-Rally - 275 lbs/ft
HD-TZ - 305 lbs/ft
HD-OFE - 375 lbs/ft
SS-TZ - 415 lbs/ft
SS-OFE - 475 lbs/ft

Twicks69 sells a few custom ones on his site here:

You can also get them here:

I wish I could say that, I have that SAME combo and mine is starting to slip at just 600 miles of use.

Did you break it in properly?

You either need to adjust the clutch system, or deglaze the disk if you glazed it over. What flywheel are you using with it?

Iirc, the xact flywheel is aluminum right? Since the Kevlar material generates a bit of heat, aluminum isn't the best to use.

To deglaze it (if it's glazed) you can either slip it a bit to get it hot and burn off the glaze, or pull it out and take a bit of sand paper to it. This is what I've read at least.

Mine's installed and so far I love it. Slightly softer than a ACT 2100 but grips fast and hard.

I'm still breaking mine in but so far so good.

Ok so the break in period is complete and I love this clutch.

Grips hard and fasts! I highly recommend it.

Now the long term durability test begins.

Cheers.

Tom

Sounds good Tom! Keep us posted! I am sure you will have the clutch for quite some time!

In this picture, i see the word "Exedy", does this mean its made by them or just coincidence?

Thats interesting that they are made by Exedy, I have heard good about them on the internet but a local with a SBC Clutch and a Holeset was having slipping issues.

I'll keep my 6bolt and Unspung 4 Puck ACT 3200, It has seen multiple lauches under the break in period and has been good to me. I also don't have to worry about stupid springs popping out.

I'm using this clutch with ACT 2600 PP, still breaking in the clutch, so far I like it, no chatter and quick engagement.

the clutchs fully is not made by exedy what sbc does is they take a exedy oe style clutch then drill out the rivets and install there clutch plate materials onto the excedy hub, i was there a few weeks ago and they explained the process

I bought and installed the SS-OFE series clutch but I was just wondering if all their SS series clutches have the SS badge on them? I was looking at photos of when I had mine on before I installed the tranny and mine did not have the SS badge on it.

I just sold my setup to a buddy as I'm converting my car to auto. I was running this clutch for almost a year with multiple 11.5 - 11.7 @ 126ish mph, a couple 1.6x 60' times, a bunch of street launches and it still looked great when I pulled it out. Only time I ever had this clutch slip on me was when the rod on the master cylinder was adjusted wrong. This clutch disk is a pleasure to drive on the street too, smooth engagement.

Yup. I love mine too.
