I re-did my MBC lines yesterday, and I was having huge boost spikes "Up to 25 psi". I did not have time to re-arrange things, so I figured I would do it after work today and just drive easy.

Leaving work, I pulled onto highway and gave a little to much gas and it spiked. As soon as I let off, I could hear things starting to fall off, like I popped my fmic clamps off or something. I immediately pulled over and popped hood. Very loud noise coming from it seems the transmission. I drove it 10 mph about 5 miles home. There is no smoke, no fluids coming out.

Thanks in advance.

That sounds a lot like a belt whine to me. First thing I would do is pull off the timing cover and make sure the balance shaft belt did not break. My guess would be that it is indeed broke and crammed up under the crank gear giving off that whine you hear.

Apparently my car does not have a timing belt cover on it? I jacked the car up, and did not notice any torn belts, or any belts missing. The noise is definitely coming from that belt region, but I cannot see anything out of the ordinary

The noise could be traveling thru the crank and really be the clutch or throw out bearing messing things up. Maybe pop off the inspection cover and take a look. Actually it sounds more like you blew the turbo!! Might wanna take a look at that! 25psi spikes arnt good at all bro, I would turn the car off fast and check these things Out before its gets worse.

Check the plastic on the covers for any rubbing. Sometimes you can't see the belts worn enough but the plastic on the covers will get worn enough to see.

I cannot see any rubbing what so ever. I do believe it is rubbing, but i cannot see where from. Is there any kind of trick to kind of pinpoint the location? I seems its coming midway down the block, and I cannot get a good angle on it :notgood:

Check your turbo for shaft play. That could even be an oil pump or power steering pump on its way out. Maybe try pulling all of the drive belts off and running it without them to see if the sound remains.

You sound unsure if your car does or does not have a timing cover. Im pointing this out because the way you worded it when you responded about it. To be honest with something like a timing cover missing you shold already have known that ahead of time. Your car will have 3 accessory belts, 1 drives the a/c compressor, 1 drives the p/s pump, and 1 drives the alternator. Behnd these belts is a 3pc plastic cover, under that cover is the timing belt and beind the timing belt at the bottom is a small belt that runs the balance shafts if they have not been deleted.

I will update this weekend when I can give it another hard look. Anymore help would be greatly appreciated. I am definitely a noob ky something like this !

I wrote in your other thread you should disconnect that pos mbc and run wastegate pressure for now, till you got this sorted out. Or until you bought propper fuel mods, like at least evo injectors and fuel pump/afpr.

Now its two days later and..... :ohdamn:

Check your belts, although it doesn't sound like one to me.

Bearing it sounds like, if you start getting a loud knock / rattle then you got a rod going out! So def. don''t drive it then.

Maybe while it's jacked up have go under it and while it's running see if you can feel vibration or more prominent noise while your under the pan.

How many miles on the car when these mods were put on it?

If you take something with 70k + mileage (just throwing a number out there) and mod it up THINGS ARE GONNA BREAK.

Even with a new engine it's better off doing the mods early but still gonna have stuff break since the more you mod the more goes wrong.

No one should ever be under a running car at all unless its on a car lift with all four wheels off of the ground and even then if it has an engine noise its a no no:nono:. What if the flywheel is coming apart? it could kill him if it decides to seperate while he is under there. There is nothing that you will learn by being under a running car, if its rattling under there it could be from up top anyway.

I agree with the other things that you are saying though.

I have been reading all of your replies, and I really appreciate the help. I had stayed out of boost driving around during work. I was leaving work, and as I was speeding up to get on the highway the car downshifted and spiked. I let off as soon as I heard the downshift but to late. My plan was to get home and take that mbc off :/. Unless I can figure it out myself this weekend, I am having it towed to a local performance shop. Really hoping it is just a belt, not a bearing.
