A few days ago I was screwing around and I found out that I could net more boost if I blocked of the waste gate nipple...so I did... and it was great :D more boost and a VERY loud blow off valve! So I stared to tune when all of the sudden I started losing power so I got scared and put everything back together....well now my car makes this weird noise when I start to boost....here is the video its in the background its kind of faint... its kind of a lowish pitch when I get into the boost range ***links to youtube**

005 - YouTube <----short video (you can here noise better)

004 - YouTube <-----longer but noise is more faint in background

both only a few seconds long... thanks for looking!!

Pull the intake off of the turbo compressor housing and check for shaft play. A little up/down is acceptable, but there should be no noticable in/out shaft play whatsoever.

so I just check the turbo....all I have to do is barely touch it and it moves up and down side to side not sure about in or out (still hot) its not hard to move at all dare I say A LOT of shaft play?

So if others asked to check for shaft play......how is it that none of those links helped?

Do I need to pull quotes? LOL.

Here you go:
I had an issue like that also! It, however, turned out to be my CHRA not being lubed properly.. Within 50 miles of that sound, my turbo shaft snapped, and my turbine wheel flew into my o2 housing! I had shaft play though.

You may have the blades damaged and therefore scraping on the side causing a "whine" not unlike that of certain superchargers. Check to see if there is blade damage or if there is excessive shaft play, that could also cause the sound.

He said he is having a spooling issue. It seems more of a turbo issue but the same thing that happened to mine it was the blades where chipped and bent

Hmm, I just re-read everything, if the car's not pulling as hard, I wouldn't suspect an exhaust leak (Unless it's a pre-turbo leak, like in the manifold, or the wastegate is leaking).

Pull off the turbo intake accordion tube, and take a good look for any debris inside of it. Make sure that rubber sleeve is still in the accordion, or around the neck of the turbo. That has been known to get in the way and cause problems, or even be sucked into the turbine.

Visually inspect the turbine as best as you can (totally remove the intake tube thingy if it makes it easier) to see if there's any damage.

There shouldn't be any in-out play on the shaft, but a little side-side-up-down is normal.

Mine used to do that. Turns out it was my Blow off valve gasket. It had a small crack in it and under boost it sounded exactly like a supercharger. Not gonna lie. sounded pretty cool...LOL. But I was running hella rich so I had to fix it.

Sounds like JUNK to me.:toobad: Get a rag so you can hold onto it enough to check for in/out play. If it has any in/out it's as good as gone.:(

Gettin a boost controller was the worst thing that happen to my old t-25 LOL. Lasted about 200k on stock boost levels, but soon after I upped it alittle it took a dump. Best thing you can do now is move on to better things. Just remember to take your time and get the right mods to run safely. Or the next thread you make will be blew my motor or is this crankwalk LOL or it feels like I'm hitting a brick wall. Do it right the first time bro and things will last a lot longer and you will have more fun.
