Some kind of grinding type noise

Ok ill be the first to tell you i am horrible at describing noises out of cars.

So when i start my car and after my car starts you hear this grinding type noise sounds horrible and i am thinking its coming from the starter because it only does it once you start the car.

now sometimes it don't do it and sometimes it does and sometimes its a low grind and then sometimes its louder.

any ideas what i could be or if it will be a problem for me.

I think its the starter but i am not sure, any ideas or suggestions.

how long does it last after you start it? Could be the throw out bearing.

The starter could not be disengaging right away causing a grind. It starts every time though right? Not like you try to start it and it grinds one time then next itll start? Check and make sure the starter bolts are tight first. If they are maybe remove yours and find someone who has a spare and try that one to see if it still does what you're describing.

It starts up every time and does not die on me at all.

maybe your turning the key for too long? Could possibly be the inspection cover if that got dented for some reason...

Is there a small grinding when you shut the vehicle off? Maybe for about 15 seconds

No grinding when I shut it off.

I guess the sound sounds like when you try and start your
Car and its already started.

So would it be the starter is not doing something right.

My guess is the starter not fully retracting as crash89 stated.

Yea I asked a few people I knew and that sounds like it anyway to fix it or will
I need a new starter.

make site the bolts are well tightened. If not replace it. A junk yard will have them Cyrano and its not hard at all to remove. Its only two bolts holding it and a positive wire from the battery
