SOLID front/rear aluminum motor mounts!

I'm gonna do a video tomorrow if I remember. I have the same, solids in the front and rear, and prothanes on the sides.

No problem! I forgot to mention that was snowborder714's car btw, biglady mod + Prothane sides. No engine movement whatsoever.

Wow, thats great. That thing was really stiff.
I may just buy the front mount, I already have prothanes on all of them now.

Hows vibrations?

Slightly more vibrations than all 4 prothanes at idle and no different while driving. The only thing that changed that I could tell is if you get too low in a gear (say, below 2k rpm's) the car will shake some when you try to accelerate and kind of "grumble" at you.

That's amazing. I'm pumped. Thanks for the video.

Kyle, you won't regret it. Especially on a FWD, the car is going to be so much funner to drive. The difference in traction is huge compared to poly mounts. And like I said earlier in this thread, my car actually has less vibrations at idle compared to when I had polysx4.

Check your carrier bearings too. :thumb:

Those were my reactions from driving my brother's GST with the mounts, not my GSX.

Eric, when you drove Brian's car what were the vibrations like right when the clutch engages (stopped car)?

It is a little harsher than it used to be and it has a little more chatter but it feels more "solid". For normal driving I can slip it more to make it so there is no chatter but I have to slip it longer. With my driving style I tend to get off the clutch pretty quick (that's just how I learned I guess) so it almost always chatters for me. I have never really launched his car hard (before or after the mounts) so I can't comment on that part.

Just sent the money, and the mounts will be shipped Monday. I can't wait. I'm getting driver side and passenger side prothanes along with this, so I'm sure I'm going to feel a BIG difference.

I'll report back with pictures and a review once they're installed.

I think I'm going to jump on this. The rear motor mount has me not smiling due to the stupid slip ons not fitting. Can't afford downtime however. Would it be wise to drive without the rear motor mount? Obviously no launches or anything like that but cruising wise, would it be bad? I have the driver side and front Prothanes but still stock OEM tranny mount.

I wouldnt. Especially without prothanes in the tranny front and side mount.
Maybe if you already had a welded solid mount on there somewhere, but in your case it probably wouldnt be a good idea even for just cruising.

I have Prothanes on the drive side and front. Not the tranny though. I'm gonna give my fabbed up rear mount a try first and see how it holds up. If it crumbles, I'll need one of these.

I got mine in the 1G last week with my new motor and all I have to say is WOW!

-Having balance shafts with stock mounts was good of course.
-Removed balance shafts and stock mounts had a little vibration.
-Removed balance shafts, stock sides and solid front/rear mounts has LOTS of vibration.

There is a lot of vibration at idle and cruising. My car HATES 2500rpms. It shakes my car bad around 2500rpm. But after that it's fine. The motor, however, is SOLID! I LOVE IT! It helped my tired 140k tranny shift a bit better and definitely helped launching and WOT pulls.

Awesome investment for the price but I can see how they could get annoying for some people with daily drivers. I don't care... :tease:

I've been considering these for some time. SonySLave I hear ya. And Like most of the respondents in this thread, like you, most are still retaining the stock side mounts and I think thats the reason they aren't complaining about vibrations much. For a car that is driven alot (DD, something the wife may drive) I'd keep the stock sides as well if they are in servicable shape. Unless you like the feel of a race car and free massages.

I just went from all stock mounts No BS... to a full Prothane Kit and its pretty much intolerable between 2000-3000. 900 rpm idle shakes the dash. I really hate it driving around. Unless I keep the revs under 2000 ( which is great on gas but.. yeah)

No BS motors are simply gonna do that approaching 2500 when they are solid mounted. Or at least thats what i've been told.

The Overall Feel in the rest of the RPM band is Great and is what I was looking for . THe car feels like it shifts more crisply and just plain feels more connected. Oviously these Alum mounts offer the same rigidity, but if your on Prothane side's or weld filled as some have noted. be prepared from some serious felt vibrations. Less so in Balance shafted motors) I have full prothane on my balanced shafted 2g and I don't get nearly as much vibration as I do from the BS removed 1g on prothanes.

I'm going out in a few minutes to swap in the drivers side mount back to stock just to make sure i'm not crazy.

Yeah I'm not crazy. I took my Father in Law for a ride yesterday with the full prothane kit. I don't know how you guys stand it. He was like Ick.. my ass is tingling. so was mine. ( I'm 35, Am I getting old?) Today I Removed the Prothane Dr side mount and replaced it with a a stock drivers side mount. It makes a TON of difference in the felt vibration in the cab. And passed the " grandpa " test.

I'm about to swap the tranny side mount ( also Prothane) out and back to stock and just use the prothane Front and rear Roll stops. ( I am looking at ordering some of these ALum Mounts ! I'm not trying to plug prothane, its just what I got) Car is DD and if I ever commit it to the track I can just slap the prothanes back in it.

I think ( for those of you who care) The best combo for a modded street/strip car ( especially one without Balance shafts) is Front and Rear roll stops. either prothane or ALum with New or Wwelded stock Side mounts is the ticket for both reducing wheel hop and firming up shifts and transitional wieght transfer while not sacrificing cabin vibration and sypathetic noise. For those with Balance shafts I expect you wont be experiencing the same level of vibration i'm talking about.

Ihad my front b-shaft ont rotaing (no bs belt). And I added it why I welded all my mounts. Its VERY different. Theres a 'racy' feel at the pants but no simpathetic noise or annoying vibrations. This is one reason I'm rebuilding my new motor with b shafts.
