I am planning on getting DSMlink, so I go look at my ecu and its an EPROM (so I think) Woot, the owner before me modded the car and took the mods off of it when it was sold. So, my question is.. Is it socketed? I can't find any comparisons sockeye picture and non. No were in the threa about eprom did it say what to look for if its socketed. Anyways, if it is socketed is it possible how he tuned it is still in the ecu?

Nope. That looks ike the factory socket and chip. The socketed ones will have a black socket under the eprom chip.

Ah damn! Well for laughs this is what it looks like under it

Yes it is if my chip, and that's great. Thanks Snow and Bud. I appreciate the help! Links just incase someone else is blind the link is right here http://www.dsmlink.com/wiki/socketid, thanks again. Happy guy today. One other question for you, is it possible his tune is still in there? Or does the tune come out with the chip. If so, that would reset it back to stock correct?

See edit because i worded it incorrectly..

Better wording. Still incorrect info since the ECU is socketed.

That's a factory chip, so no "tune" will be on it. The tune would've been on the aftermarket chip (DSMlink/ECMlink/custom chip) that was removed. Currently you're just running a fully stock ECU that happens to have a socket installed.

Got you, thanks guys. I appreciate the help. Stoked I don't have I pay/wait. Funds are tight as it is, Thanks again!
