So I just bought a 95 Talon TSI AWD that was just swapped with a 6 bolt motor. The guy says it has a socketed 2g ecu and just needs a chip in it? The car misfires after it's been running for more than a minute or it idles really high. He claims this was just because it doesn't have a chip. Can anyone confirm this and whats the cheapest chip i can get?

Thanks

It misfires because of the 6 bolt swap (specifically the 1g CAS that is probably being used).

You have a limited number of options to fix this. The most common is ECMlink, which will allow you to stop the misfiring, as well as give you a great tuning and logging package. You could also swap in a different ECU ('98-'99) and use a different piece of software to stop it. There is also the option of a custom burned chip, but I'm not even sure who to recommend for this.

same here i went with the link anyway and you can just disable random misfires.... i've heard that unhooking the tps helps...

Awesome! Thanks guys. The 6 bot that's in there has 3100 miles on it and I just picked up a new over bored 14b to drop in. Once the misfire get's fixed this is gonna be a sweet ride.
