420A Socket stuck in crank hole

I had a friend help me with a project when i was gone now theres a socket that is expanded in the crank hole. I have tried many solutions but none seem to work I would appreciate your help thanks

It's a little hard to tell by that picture exactly what's going on, but if it's actually stuck in the crank your going to have to remove the crank and take it to a machine shop and have them machine it out. Or get another crank.

How does that even happen? Regardless, it has probably ruined the threads for the crankshaft pulley bolt, which could potentially deem that crank as scrap metal.

My idea would be to use high strength epoxy to glue a long rod to the socket. So you now have a means of pulling it out or maybe using a slide hammer. The condition of the threads should be a large concern.

You could try an extractor or some kind of reverse drill bit but like mentioned those threads are probably toast. That's a bummer. I'm guessing your buddy was trying to get the harmonic balancer off?

Maybe that old trick using a piece of bread? Seriously, it might just work.

I also thought about the bread trick. At this point it wouldn't hurt anything besides wasted food and possibly energy. In the past I've used JB weld and a throw away extension to snatch stuck sockets back out. Not in this scenario though.

Have you tried just removing the bolt to get it off? Seems like the wrong size or cheap socket IMO.

The bolt is already removed. The socket is stuck in the threads.
