So, what's the stock 7-bolt HP record?

I'm curious to know what the highest known record is for the most horsepower from a stock 7-bolt engine. And when I say "stock", I mean bone stock block, head, and even cams. Bolt-ons only.

So if you know of the record, post up details.

PS - This is not a "Post what your 7-bolt makes" Thread. Please... I'm looking for the guys at the top of the list only.

I have a video on my hard drive of one making 442whp and then throwing a rod the next run.

Well that is pretty stock in my book. Cams won't do that much.

That kid from (312somethin) got 455hp wheel on MS. Looked like it let go because of a rod bolt, probably could of gotten more with just ARP hardware. Come to think of it not sure if he had cams or not. His thread was in the Hang out not to long ago. I got to get dsmlink so I can join that forum i feel left out!

That motor let go more because of poor tunning than anything else.

As already stated a Stock Block, Head and Intake Manifold 7bolt has done 551whp...not to mention his clutch was starting to let go.

Hmm.... So it seems alot of people are hitting 450HP and then kaboom... Maybe I'll aim my sights a little lower. (I was originally shooting for 450WHP on stock cams)

When you throw in the stock cams stipulation I think YOU just might hold that record :thumb:
Yeah, I think I'm the only moron trying to make big power and still on stock cams. ROFL

Your a moderator and you didn't search. :toobad: And your on the dsmlink forums. :toobad: Just kidding Paul. A guys with ARPs, 4 layer head gasket and HKS 272's made 551whp on a 97 GST. Some T4 setup. Had more in it.

Thanks for the link, Steven. yeah, I tried searching, but this is a difficult topic to search. And I knew someone would know.

I can't believe those rods held up to 551 WHP. Very Impressive. So it looks like the man to beat is Jeff Harrington from IL.

So far, this is the record on a stock 7-bolt w/cams. It's hard finding people making power on stock cams..... (and yes, I understand why :) )

So I am guessing that he was using DSMlink to net 551hp? That's unbelievable is he a member of tuners or just the link forum? I would love to see that mod list. Me having a low mile 7-bolt that's something to shoot for.

Yes, he was tuning with dsmlink, but I haven't found too much info about his mods though.

* 950's
* stock block and intake manifold
* HKS cams
* 60-1 (T4 turbine housing .70 A/R, T350 turbine wheel)
* 1G TB
* Hacked 2G MAS

551 WHP
506 ft.lbs TQ
12 degrees timing advance
C16 fuel
35 psi boost
roughly 60 lbs/min airflow

I believe he has some head work done though. Impressive nonetheless.

PS - This all took place back in 2004, BTW.

It was a 67 T4. His 10.7 track time was on a built 6bolt. His best time on a stock 7bolt was a 11.0. I just ran 11.4-126mph at 30psi on my stock 7bolt with cams. I plan to run 34psi next time out so a stock 7bolt can make some power.

just wondering what the reasoning was for you wanting to keep the stock cams??
I don't want to keep them - I just haven't got around to replacing them yet. :) And my car already makes good power on the stockers, so I'm not even sure if I need to replace them and make more power.

That motor let go because the clutch slipped mid pull. Shot the rod bolt out and there went the rod.
