So Thats Whats Been Going on........

Those of you who have shown interest in the lower arms, we are working on a web site right now to give all the stats and pics with prices. Still continue to contact me though and I will start forwarding you to a email contact with the designer. Also new lower rears are being made as well. No pics available yet. They are constructed from aero chromoly tube. Will include billet bushings and ball joints installed, powder coated to your liking.

Last years race weight WITHOUT driver was 2439, This last winter I have managed to remove another 424 lbs from her.

For the car to be as "whole" as it is in some of those pictures I am really surprised you got the weight down that low. And to have found another 400+ pounds to remove with it still not being all that chopped up is even more insane. WTF

How much of the fabricated parts are titanium or am I mistaken? Titanium seems like such a natural material for lightweight IC pipes etc. Cost of course being prohibitive. Is the ti tubing thinner walled than steel or aluminum tubing? What happens to the ti after it's been heatcycled? For example my DNP ss exhaust manifold turned a nice brown color. Started out blue and purple but ended up brown. Does ti do something similar? So is this car under 2,000 pounds now?! Or did I read wrong? Good lord!

Yeah the Ti does discolor with heat. The downpipe got just enough from the TIG to let it turn brown. It can be polished back though. The upper intercooler pipe and exhaust are the only Ti items on the car right now.

I guarantee it's smaller than Jesse's turbo still. The inducer is almost the same size as 4202 but the exducer is slightly larger hence "HTA 105" but flows 120 plus lbs per minute.

Just for the record as well I will be dynoing this car in awd 5sp trim for true accurate numbers on our dyno jet. Q16 for fuel. Then I will switch the car back to auto.

I was just pecking ;) . . . Great job! LOVE the manifold. And was Devin's an hta35r car? The difference is what folks put on thinking they can get the same results. . .In all honesty though, all that matters is that you can go fast with the turbo you chose and the support you give it. Everyone needs to be astute and judicious enough to use what's given to make a good decision for their own situation.

To be real honest I really don't believe there ever was a bench mark for turbo size on the auto record. We all have just been coming out balls a swingin and see who's got it at the end of the day. For me personally I race this car competitively so I'm restricted to turbo size, drive train configuration and weight of car. So I'm stuck at no larger than a 75mm inducer. Also I'm already exceeding cage limits so if this new set up shows promise of 8.5's or faster I'm gonna be adding in the funny car cage to be legal to push the car safely, and not to be DQ'd because some cry baby lost to a better car.

For clear and simple weight on the car, if it is at 2150 curb weight when I'm done I'll be stoked anything less than that is a bonus. I will take pics of it on the scales so there will be no question the weight.

I was actually curious if you had plans to do a 25.5 in the car, beings as how you were so close to breaking cert last year, and probably have plans to this year since you probably want to go faster then on the old setup :p

The first pics with the hood closed reminds me of this guy from small soilders. ROFL

Actually when I redid the cage in chromoly this time I already prepped for the installing of the funny car cage. It wont be too difficult to put it in.

Okay to point out how much change there has been, this is the old kit starting with pre install pix-

It was basically an overgrown street turbo kit and intercooler setup that made 1050 that way. It has improved by leaps and bounds.

Okay well since your done with that "street kit" may I borrow it? :sneaky:

It is actually for sale now through ETS, I also have a like new GTXr 4202 for sale as well. made around 5 passes with it and is a direct use with this kit. Went 4 8 sec passes with it. I also have a never installed 1g ETS 3.5/4in pan to rear bumper exhaust. I paid over 1700 for this pm for pricing, fits in all the stock hangers.

Very impressive! We need to get Darren's car on some corner weight scales and get a better idea what it truly weighs. Where would you say you saved the most weight at?

Damn! Major diet for a car looking like a street car. Guess Kevin's something coming for him. LOL

I texted Kevin late last night sharing with him where I got the car down to. To say the least he is impressed, but I assure you I'm no where's near making that guy nervous. Kevin will always pull off the win when he is pushed, but thats what this is all about. I'm changing a couple of things now because I know there's more weight to come out, but thats next week. right now I just want her back running so I can go play.

That is looking great Jeff! I'm sure it will be bottom 8's as soon as you decide to turn the screws. While I do have some other 'stuff' up my sleeves for this season (which I won't ruin this thread with, so please don't try to), I think you're still going to be right there as well. I think your biggest worry is the cage for 8.50's and legality purposes! Guess it will just have to be cranked for the shootout, right?

Kevin

Thanks Kevin, You really should just leave your car be for this season and let us slow guys try to catch up for heavens sake. You keep putting the bar up to high.

More car porn-
