Well it is that time to upgrade the turbo. I currently have a FP t28, but amd now looking for more power. I will have fuel supporting and tuning mods for a larger frame turbo such as, a 50 trim.

I was looking at a 5031e from precision, a ported 20g with tdo5, or and evo 3 16g. I want something that will get into boost fairly quick (around 4000 or so), but will have a lot of balls up top too. Would like to be somewhere around 350-400 hp on 99 octane. Also would like to be around 24 pounds or more.

I have been told numerous times to stay away from the evo 3, because of boost creep. I figure I could fix it with an external gate, which I will be doing no matter what turbo I choose.

What recommendations would you give me to help me find the right turbo for my needs?

What is your budget? You have the FP Green, PTE's BB 50 trim, FP3150 and FP3052 and many other turbos.

I would recommend a 50-trim or larger turbo. While the evo 3 16g is a great turbo, especially as a first-time turbo upgrade, I don't think you would see huge gains compared to your FP Big28. The Big28 is rated up to about 36 lbs/min (approximately 360 crank hp), while the evo 3 16g is rated a bit higher at about 38 lbs/min (approximately 380 crank hp), maybe 40 lbs/min if you're lucky.

If total cost is a concern, you will want to consider not only the cost of the turbo itself, but the cost of additional items that you may need, depending on which turbo you choose. This may include a new exhaust manifold, external wastegate, upgraded engine internals, etc. Good luck with your decision.:thumb:

What ^^^ said. External gate mounted on either the o2 housing or the exhaust manifold is going to run you about $500 addition to the turbo. You then need to factor in if you want to stick with an internal gate due to reduced cost or go external for the extra cost.

I have also now ran by the SBR bastard 20g. I really like that turbo and think it would be good for my needs. I will go interally gated with that though.
