Snap-On Scaner????

What's up guys! I was just wondering if I could use a Snap-On Scaner like a data logger, I see that the scaner reads water temps, engine temps misfires and a hole lot of other things. Just wondering!

Does it show you timing, o2 and RPMs? If not, get a datalogger.

you are talking about the complete automotive scanner,,, yea it should work, but damn those things can be EXPENSIVE.. shit it would be cheaper to get DSMLink.. unless you found a REALLY good deal on one! then hook a brotha up.. there are a few different models, but they should all monitor what needs to be seen,,,

Yes, it shows, o2, rmps timing knock. I know they are expensive, too expensive if you ask me but I work with my brother and he owns one and the other day I found out that it read all of that, and thats just what the loger does corect? If it does I think I just saved my self some money. I hope so

A brand new Snap-On Scaner can go for 5 grand. So i would go with a datalogger.

DSMloggers comes with a remanufactured Palm, cable and freeware software (the software you can download for free from http://students.db.erau.edu/~szabafab/stein/), so basically all you are paying $160 for is the cable and a Palm.

Pocketlogger.com comes with their software (better) and cable but you have to get a Palm from ebay or someplace else. You can pick up a new/used M100 or M105 for anywhere between $20 - $40 on ebay. And here's a mounting idea http://students.db.erau.edu/~szabafab/stein/m1xxmount.htm

I would go with pocketlogger.com stuff over dsmloggers.com, just my personal preference. BTW I don't have a damn logger yet either, need to get me one.

which model does he have? MODUS, SOLUS, Vantage?

and i think you would be hard pressed to find a "logger" that monitors more things than any of the Snap-On scanners. Granted the Snap-On piece is alittle over kill.. but hey if you have one just layin around why not take advantage of it..

I meant a logger reads a few more parameters than o2, RPMs and timing. Not that a logger reads more parameters than a snap-on scanner.

Well I have the scaner, and yes they're expensive my brother paid like 6500 or so! so I guess I can use it right
