Snap-On scan tool cartridge

I was just wondering if anyone would know the name of the cartridge needed to diagnose a 96 eagle talon TSi AWD. The Snap-On scanner is a model MT 2500. I have the cartridges for GM-Chrysler-Ford-Jeep both the trouble shooter and the bi directional communication thru to 1997. What I would like to know is would these work or do I have to purchase a global OBII cartridge which I know handles eagle/mitsu. Also if this scanner does work for my car would it is possible to use it for data logging? I received it for free so I wouldn’t mind spending the money on the cartridges. The only reason why I am not testing it now is because it’s about -40C out.

I not quite sure what the brick is. i do have the scanner though and a cable with a black box mid-lenght in it. the scanner is probably about a a foot or so wide and half foot tall hopefully that helps

Sounds like the brick to me. If I can remember correctly, the cartridge you have is the 22 right. You might need a 20, but I could be totally wrong.

It is the brick, I used to have one before I upgraded to the modis. It looks like a big red brick. Can't you enter it as a Plymouth Laser? If your cartridge handles the Chrysler imports you should be all set for live data capture and basic scanner functions.

I don't think you can capture and store data for any kind of logging with that though.

No you cn't log with the brick, but you should be able to see TPS and fuel trims and such. The MODIS rocks!!You want MO DIS ass in yo face..

We'll once it warms up I figure I would try it out. I wasn’t too sure if the eagle would have a mitsu or a Chrysler ecu which is why I was wondering, and like I said it was free . The main reason for asking is the morons who I got my car from put black tape over the check engine light. I figure its because the second 02 sensor is missing due to the megan racing 3" exhaust...I was also trying to figure out why my car cuts at 5500 rpm, I got the new plugs since it had the wrong ones (now bpr6es) gapped at 28. Next to come is fuel filter since the body of the car has like 250 000 KM and the motor only has 50 000(so I was told). The car pulled awesome until my friend jumped the timing by a tooth (thought 2nd was 4th) and blew the electrode off the champion plugs the guy had in it before. I replaced the plugs with the same champion crap and found no luck so I did some searching and found the right plugs. and since my father said there is a giant cloud of black smoke coming out the pipe I figure its spark blow out(although it is vented to atmosphere without maft)...anyhow sorry for the long story, thanks again for all the info. might have to start a new thread for this one...

It should be considered a Mitsubishi ECU. For a quick fix run down to Autozone or Advanced or someplace like that and they will read the codes for you.

There's no difference between the Eagle, the Plymouth, or the Mitsubishi. They're all Mitsubishi ECU's. If your cartridge supports the Eagle Talon or the Plymouth Laser, it supports the Eclipse. You just need to enter the appropriate vin code for the year, engine, and body type of the US counterpart.
