Smoke from under head?

First off, I've been having problems with coolant lately, and problems with stalling. I fixed my coolant leak and all my vac leaks, and burped my coolant system (after making sure it was full). It still wanted to die, so i looked up and determined my ISC was off, so I used evoscan to fix it. I used to have some white smoke where the leak was near my thermo housing, but now its just coming from under my head in general, what is happening? The idle is better and it doesn't want to die, but it keeps getting really hot and idle surging?

Are you loosing coolant slowly? Could be a bad head gasket and or a slightly warped head and the smoke is coolant boiling off to the atmosphere.

a cpl different questions

1. your certain you have enough oil right(stupid question)

2. if you leave the car running with the radiator cap off do you see the thermostat open and the coolant flowing or just sitting still(see if the water pumps working properly)

3. take the air filter tube/snorkel off and check your turbo for shaft play(seal could be blown burning oil)

4. do you have any exhaust leaks or with the hood popped do you see where the smoke is coming from?

Exhaust manifold could be cracked. I just remembered I had a cracked one and had a leak from it until it warmed up and sealed itself. But my smoke was also from burning a bit of oil due to an Old engine. Also if you ran a bit hot the exhaust manifold gasket could have been compromised.
