Is a smim worth it for a semi daily driver, does it affect low and midrange power or does it help? This is for a 6 bolt motor.

Sure if you think it is. You could see lots of power from the upgrade but it also depends on what other mods you have. If you want more help, update your mods list and I'm sure someone will chime in.

EDIT: yeah...what he said.

Lots of power can be made on the stock intake manifold, I've seen cars put down 450+ on it. Really depends on your goals and how you drive your car. Many SMIM you will lose bottom end torque but gain much more top end. I'll stick with the stock intake manifold for awhile on my setup since I rarely track the car currently and is more of a quick DD than anything. The bottom end is more favorable than top end in my mind right now.

With the 1g intake manifold and 1g head.I think you could spend the money elsewhere.Your already getting enough airflow out of those items to support at least 400hp, and high rpms. The intake manifold could help at higher rpms, but not really needed. There are plenty of people making well over 400 on stock intake manifolds.

I agree with bud, I rather shell out the 300-400 bucks for a SMIM and put it toward my fuel system, good injectors are expensive, so are good fuel pumps. Spend 400 in fuel upgrades just to support my 20g, well I can support almost any turbo I wanna run now.

Have a power goal in mind, if you can not reach it without changing the stock intake then a SMIM is for you.

Well first off before we play the 16g into things its not going to be used, im going with a borg warner s366 t4 t.s.
Goodbuds after that statement i think its you that needs to look into neon lighting, thanks for your obviously good contribution.

Im also shooting for 600 awhp looking for more but would be happy with 600

I was just kidding, but for future reference make sure you put your goals in the topic befor you start aking for advise. Saves us alot of time by constantly asking, what size turbo, what kind of fuel your going to use or how much power you trying to make.

No hard feelings, just alittle tuff love.

Haha it's all good man, I thought you were being serious and just talking crap, but to the topic I'll be running the Borg on e85, I have a homemade smim but don't want to install it if it's going to hurt the low end power but if it helps to get to boost then I'd say it's worth it, the one I have is using the stock runners then has a tubular plenium, I'll post up some pictures when I get home so we can look at it and do some constructive criticism if it would even be good to run at all

If you are worried about low-end power you have chosen the wrong turbo. Even with a divided inlet, a T4 frame housing and turbine wheel of that size are geared for the top end on a 2.0.

Which A/R housing on your S300-66?

It's the .83 version, I know it's not going to be a good low end turbo I just don't want to hurt the low end even more since its already going to be lacking there

I plan to be using the 2G head rather than the 1G due to that being what I currently have at the moment. Now the SMIM would be a good upgrade for running a GT4088R? But this would be for a useable powerband rather than for track use (it would see a little track time).

HP goals are to reach mid 600bhp to 700bhp.

Well would it be beneficial/worth it if I went this route or would it be better if I decide to go with a 1G head and manifold? I'm already in the process of getting a 1G TB.

I was just wondering if this would be a good mod rather than going the 1G IM/Head route.
