Well my 14b was starting to bite the bullet so I decided it was time for an upgrade. I got a s16g from a user on here (minus the exhaust housing-ordered) and I was just wondering what other supporting mods I should order to run this turbo safely between 12-15 psi. For the time being I'll be using my 14b's wastegate in an attempt to keep it between 9-12psi.

I was told that I should port the new housing out so that the 16g does not boost creep. I've read and researched on what to do and I'm prepared to do that as soon as the housing comes in. But I was wondering about the exhaust manifold and o2 housing, shoud I port those as well?

If I'm only running stock boost, should I still get a set of 550's and some sort of controller? I have hallman MBC but I removed it once I noticed my 14b starting to die....

I know I have alot of questions, so, any help and opinions are welcome;)

I am currently running a small 16g, with the stock o2 housing and exhaust, until I get better fueling. I currently do not have any fuel upgrades, except for a wally 190lph that I have yet to install. I also do not currently have a logger, so I am not sure what my injector duty cycle is. With the standard actuator I was able to get it turned all the way down to 10psi@4000rpm, which is where it's set for daily driving (I have a 3 setting electronic boost controller from the previous owner). At 10psi, the car does not pull as hard as it did with the 14b though, and turning it up seems to bring the pull back, but I do not feel comfortable tuning off of just that. I also used it as a 14b replacement, but my old 14b just had a large crack on the inside of the housing which was letting the exhaust bypass the wastegate. The housing inlet is bigger on the s16g than on the 14b by ~3/8". I have not had creep issues yet, but I have not gotten a chance to get my 3" system welded up and on there yet.

If you have a logger, go ahead and install it after your done porting as you desire, along with your mbc. Start with your controller turned all the way turned 'down', do a 2-3-4 pull to check your IDC's, and if your under 85% or so, you should be safe to turn it up a little and test again.

You should be fine..I had a small 16 g for the last year. Now I'm running the evo 3...I have noticed alot more flow, going from a 13g, to small 16g, to evo3..Better response before and during boost, because of the added flow. If your not going as high as 16 psi or more, I've heard that the turbo isnt that efficiant in those low boost ranges.. But on wastgate pressure alone, you will notice a difference..

I'm tuning today with boost alone, I will let you know how that turns out..

You should port all your exhaust components and shim your wastegate actuator, if your running stock boost on that s16g there is no need for 550's or a safc, you should be fine

For the time being I will be running the stock wastegate without my MBC so as to keep the boost down. Once I get the money (damn economy) I will be ordering my injectors and safc. I just wanted to make sure there would be nothing else I needed, essentially, once I do decide to turn the boost up.:thumb:

you'll be good on stock fuel system at wastegate pressure. Don't forget a fuel pump when you get your injectors and fuel controller.
