Small 16g Help

I bought a small 16g from a guy and he told me........"No matter what manifold you have, it will work with my turbo. You'll have to leave the sleeve off that normally fits into the groove of the exhaust housing of the turbo...the groove has been ported out of the housing"

Can anyone tell me what he is talking about? Will my mechanic understand this? Thanks

On the stock setup there is a little sleeve that fits between the turbo and manifold, majority of people remove this when they swap turbo's.

Everything will be fine.
