With idle irregularities and occasional near-stalls after connecting the coolant temperature sensor in my project to put my former parts car on the road I checked the closed throttle position switch: Sure enough, not closed when throttle closed. Adjusted that and things got much better. However adjustments by the IACV are very slow -- maybe it takes a couple seconds to recover the right RPM when the headlights are turned on (alternator load) or the steering wheel is abruptly turned (pump load).
Is this to be expected when the IACV has perhaps been out of business for several years? Can it be cleaned/lubed? Or is replacement the right answer?
