1G Sludge in water pump

Is it normal to have this kind of sludge in the water pump?
If not, what would cause it?

Pretty sure the pump has grease in it, could have failed and just started seeping it out.

Looks like Bar's Leak possibly to me. The pelleted stuff is like tar. Would not hurt to pressure test the coolant systems to make sure there's no leaks in the system.

Looks like sealer to me too.
