Ok so I have a gst that I am not getting heat out of the air vents and the temp guage is all over the place. I have put 2 new tstats in it along with a rad cap, rad, flushed and back flushed the whole system, temp sensor to gauge, and lower rad hose. Some one put stop leak in there and I think I have gotten it all out. They put it in because the heater core leaked but I put in a new heater core last year. I did timing belt and water pump about 10-12,000 miles age. Also I had the waterpump belt break right before all this happened but not sure if it was just because it was an old belt. With laser thermo temps read about 130 at water pump. Could a messed up water pump be the issue here I have changed everything else.

Also I am assuming you are getting air out of the vents right with the heat selected it just not hot? Have you looked for the heater hoses that run through the firewall to see if they are t'd together?

Sorry I knew I had forgotten something. The fans kick on like they should and I guess they could be keeping the engine cool enough. The thing is the gauge climbs much much faster than it should as well. Heater hoses are not teed together they run through the heater core. I had heat fine till about 2 weeks ago and then one cold morning no heat and gauge was all over the place. No mixing of fluids, no sweet smell from exhaust, and acts normal with rad cap off. Also upper hose reads like 150 and lower reads 60

Take the belt off the water pump and try turning it by hand. You should feel and maybe even hear the water moving around. Make sure the car is not hot when you do it. And check for freeplay of the pump while the belt's off. May even take one of the heater hoses off and see if water comes out as you turn the pump.
Our Ranger chewed up a pump. All was left on the inside was a flat disc which was not moving any water. Symptoms were almost identical to yours.

Two things here, if the upper and lower hoses are really noticeable diff temps your tstat is bad not opening. Also if you had heat and now do not I would say you probably have a air bubble in the system that needs to be burped out. Burp the system again an air bubble in the system can create hot spots (vapor) FYI.

Thank you guys. So I got time to work on it and the water pump had completly came apart. I am going to call gates on that one. I got everything back together and took it for a test run. Guage went up a little after a bit and went back down I am gonna try to get any air out I can I guess.
