So..............

What is the longest amount of time you've spent trying to figure out why your car is running like crap before you realized the maf was unplugged?:talon:
 
Forgot the ground strap and the car would go dead when trying to start it. Took an hour to figure out that one.

I spent 2 days trying to diagnose a no-start because of this piece of shit!! I felt like more of a retard from that than I did for the Maf plug.. Just sayin!!
 
A trip around the block... I do this all the time though. However, if you want to hear embarrassing... This summer I was chasing down boost leaks, and after I got most of them fixed, I ran in the house to grab a beverage. Came back out, got in the car, and tried to start it up. But the damn thing wouldn't start. I looked all over the engine bay for loose wires, and I even checked the maf plug. It still wouldn't start. Finally after about 5 minutes of staring at the engine bay, I zeroed in on the turbo... and there it was... The boost leak tester was still hooked up. :ohdamn:

You and me both. But I'm putting one back in because I don't see SD getting along with VGT because of varying VE. LOL

Yeah. I'm still fighting that strange lean spike at 2800rpms, and I've replaced everything there is to replace except the ECU and it's still there. We're all at a loss as to what is causing it. :idontknow:
 
About an hour after staring at my engine and cursing at it I plugged my MAF back in bit how about this one:While swapping out alternators I forgot to put the oil filter back on... 5qts all over the 4 month old driveway.. If that wasn't enough it was one day old royal purple.
 
Surprised noones said this.. It takes me all of about 5 seconds of turning the car on to notice the Check Engine light blinding me.. :p Although, I have used limp mode more than 3 times to get my 1g home since i bought it in october.. Stupid IC pipe keeps popping off and I have no tools in my car! grrr

no tools in your car? are you sure you drive a dsm? just kidding, i have enough tools to do a timing belt on the side of the road:thumb:

Ouch. I would probably cry. As to maf plug, my buddy's 2g started running like poo, and we couldnt figure it out for the life of us. he got it flatbedded to his house, and here the whole time tha maf was plugged in, just not the whole way. LOL

About 7 seconds. Started the car, stepped on the gas a little bit to get going...

*POOF* black smoke, car fell on its face....

All my tools are in my shop where my spyder is, since Im doing a ton of work on it, hence my build journal. My 1g is my DD, its really NEVER left me stranded except an IC pipe popping off. Tis a great car!!

On a different note, I ALWAYS had a tool bag in my spyder when it was my only car. Just in case!! :thumb:
