So..............

What is the longest amount of time you've spent trying to figure out why your car is running like crap before you realized the maf was unplugged?:talon:

normally ill catch it pretty quick, but in the beginning of modding my car, there were a few times where i went a good 5-10 min, LOL.

Even though i catch it quick, i still do it all the time. LOL dont feel bad

haha I constantly do it as well, but figure it out as soon as I start it 9 times outta 10. When you have half the car tore apart and get it back together and it does it, you dont tend to jump directly to that conclusion as you would after just having your intake plumbing apart.

That time I spent more than a few mins searching for what was wrong...:ohdamn:

Took it in to get a turbo bolt drilled out. Mechanic said it was running funny and couldn't figure it out. I drove it for 10 seconds....pulled over and plugged it back in. Never bringing my car back to them ever again.

I did this yesterday when i was checking shaft play in my turbo, realized it when i started it and idled like crap that I had forgot to plug it back in :ohdamn:.

5 seconds. :p

the previous owner had his car for 6 months and didnt know where this vacuum/whistle sound was coming from under boost. I checked out the car, 2 minutes later SMIC had a small leak. Like a boss.

months LOL...well me and a couple friends had a few to many drinks and decided lets wire up my safc and im sure you guys know where this is going. car ran like shit for probably about 2 months. changed everything including the maf. one night i picked up a friend and when he got in the car he kicked some wires by the ecu. turns out the maf wire for the safc was on very good. LOL that was the problem the whole time

A trip around the block... I do this all the time though. However, if you want to hear embarrassing... This summer I was chasing down boost leaks, and after I got most of them fixed, I ran in the house to grab a beverage. Came back out, got in the car, and tried to start it up. But the damn thing wouldn't start. I looked all over the engine bay for loose wires, and I even checked the maf plug. It still wouldn't start. Finally after about 5 minutes of staring at the engine bay, I zeroed in on the turbo... and there it was... The boost leak tester was still hooked up. :ohdamn:

Surprised noones said this.. It takes me all of about 5 seconds of turning the car on to notice the Check Engine light blinding me.. :p Although, I have used limp mode more than 3 times to get my 1g home since i bought it in october.. Stupid IC pipe keeps popping off and I have no tools in my car! grrr

My MAF has been unplugged (even removed) for a year or two, and I'm still trying to figure out why my car does what it does. Just can't bring myself to wire a MAF back in and compare notes. :D

You and me both. But I'm putting one back in because I don't see SD getting along with VGT because of varying VE. LOL

But before that? About 5 min.

Forgot the ground strap and the car would go dead when trying to start it. Took an hour to figure out that one.
