I want to replace my deck with a netbook. I currently use it for DSMlink, but it just sits in my passenger seat. I want to mount the netbook where the stereo deck is, but am looking for some ideas. Anyone have pictures of there permanent mount setup?

Its not in my car but... here's my laptop LOL. Might not fit very well

There's so much room behind the radio in my car, but I'm not sure about the 2G. You should try to find a LCD screen around the size of a 2 DIN radio and build a shuttle PC. You could stuff it behind the radio area.

My aspire one net book is WAY too big to fit into the radio slot. This was my solution: Monitors and Touchscreens there are some that are meant for the radio slot and connect with usb cables. I was going to just run the wires to my glove box and drop my netbook in there.

It's on a motorized seat belt track and operates using the power mirror switch.

Here's the one in my Honda beater.

I cut up an old keyboard to put those volume and mute buttons between the A/C ducts.

I picked up two of these docking stations for $12 each on ebay.

I just slide my laptop in, and it locks in place. No wires to hook up.

There's a laptop and a compact spare tire in the trunk of this AWD Colt. Can you see them?

No videos of that screen going up and down?

Yeah here's one from back in my FWD days getting spanked by a 12 second DSM. I only move the screen a little in the beginning.

In the end the guy said I was leaking water; he was full of crap unless my A/C had some excess water in the drain, but I never had an antifreeze leak and the A/C was off.

Different red DSM, but I'm AWD now, and paybacks are a bi***.

But then I'm just beaten by an 11.59 Integra :(

Holy crap I wasn't expecting the screen to move that quickly. Almost scared me haha

Looks similar to a cop car mounted PC.

How'd you pull it off?

Its just a cheap laptop mount off ebay.

Car Truck Laptop Mount Desk Stand FITS ALL VEHICLES `! | eBay

Its bolted to the floor. I bought the little quick disconnect fitting they offer too, so I can remove it when I want. I mounted it under the carpet and cut a little hole so you can only see a little bit of the mount. I only use it when I'm on the dyno or doing some low throttle cruising and idle tuning.

I want a car PC for the Colt. There isn't room to hide a docking station in there, so it's a real pain having to go to the trunk to turn it on, or to unhook a million cables when I need to pull it out. Plus the car PCs are tiny these days.

Yes they are, and with touch screen monitors so cheap, just seems like an easy way to go.

Interesting.

I think I could make one thats a little beefier then that one and would work better.
Maybe I just found an idea to do while I'm waiting on the motor build. :thumb:

I've yet to do it, but a 7" Lilliput EBY701, an Asus EEE 701SD, and a few other odd ball things should be enough to make a carPC now days.

Looking at less that $400 for a setup like that.

If you want music on more than just USB thumb drives, add $200 and get a BoomzBox HD Radio USB Controlled AM/FM Tuner.

Want to make a GUI that looks good? Add $80 and get Centrafuse.

These get as expensive as you want.

This thing is made from steel pipes. It doesn't get any beefier, but you can probably still make a better one. But for the price, it works pretty good, but I'm sure it can be improved.

The piece of lexan they give you in the kit is damn near indestructible. Its solid, and it can hold the heaviest of laptops.
