Alright soon im getting my job and im single so more money for me! and i want to know something. I have somewhat some car skills, ive never rebuilt a engine but ive removed one put back in and disassembled one. also tranny changes and what not. i want to know if it would be a good idea to build a car i usaly take my time to make sure everythings right, im planning on hx40 i was thinking fp turbo they seem like you can make more power but also seems harder to run/ non rebuildable. Thanks for any input sorry for grammer/spelling. i iz ah highskool grad!LOL ive also done alot of research not saying i know everything but ive spent nights reading about the car.

i know the costs and everything. im more looking for if its more complicated then im thinking it is. My step dad always told me just go out and do it and learn your own car. So thats all he told me when i asked him.

My only advice is that if your gonna do it then research 10 hours for every hour of work and labor that you actually do. As long as you take your time and do everything correctly then you'll be fine and have one hell of a DSM

+1 to what AK is saying. I built from a shell GSX a pretty fast (12.7ish) engine but put ALOT of research into parts and pieces and I still missed one key thing. (get arp head studs...)

It was fun and if your willing and able to do it yourself you will save alot.

I agree with the 2 prior posts. If your going to go balls to the wall with that big of a turbo your going to need strong internals and a tranny capable laying down that kinda power to the wheels. I guess go big or go home. Goodluck and study hard. :hellyeah:

I know this is going to sound rude and I know people are here to learn, but is this a serious question? Yes build your car if you have the money, and if you are single. Being single and owning a fast car doesn't mean you will get the girl though... oh back to the point. If you want to build this car, I would start by grabbing the biggest most brutal energy drink, coffee, what ever will keep you awake, and start reading these forums for hours. Learn what you will need before you buy. Look at people with similar set-ups to the one you want. Ask the wise men here on tuners for advice. Buy a spare engine, blow it up and then do it over and over again until it is perfect, or do it right the first time. Its great you want to learn, so do just that, learn. I learn more on these forums in 15 mins about my car than i do taking it apart piece by piece.

If your really a high school grad and plan on going to college, then i would SAVE that money. Trust me, you dont want to get halfway through the build and run out of funds because your at college and dont have the time to work, let alone work on the build. Then it will just end up being another Part out in the classifieds section.

ahh i was told that the 6bolt is 350whp reliable and will hold 400-450 unreliable.... i duno if it were me i would not want a 1000hp machine.. think about it.. all the problems and issues you will have things breaking honestly, build the internals, slap a 35R on it, fuel ect.. and trust me it will be a bad a$$ DSM and something reliable.

a 6 bolt can definitely handle more than 350 reliably, hell a 7 bolt would be more than okay with 350

^^ are you really questiong dsm-onster's info? Haha. Your 6bolt will handle more then enough like stated. Do the research and learn, in the end its going to be stronger tranny, bigger turbo, injectors, pump and all the usuals to get you to your hp you want. Oh and of course a good tune.

A bad tune will kill an eagle/ross block at 350whp.

A good tune will take the stock 6bolt block to 600whp.

You still need all the support that a 600whp setup needs. Manifolds, tuning solutions, turbos, fuel, charge cooling. Then you need clutch, tranny, rubber, rear. The 6bolt block is overbuilt for it's surroundings.

save up some $$ ### it's gonna go balls deep expensive. I didn't realize how much money I'm putting in the car till I had made a list of what I already bought. My only advice is make a list and do it ONE at a time. don't buy fuel upgrades then exhaust upgrades at the same time, concentrate on one area, if your doing exhaust buy all the exhaust stuff first if possible. or all the engine stuff first vice versa. etc etc etc.. Do it right the first time or you'll be one of the guys parting out the car in classifieds.

Also if your not familiar with DSM's you should realize you don't need really high HP to have a fast car.
A 350-400 HP DSM makes a phenomenal daily driver and runs 13's or better depending on what your doing. I had a Big 16g in a GSX with new rods and pistons + obvious upgrades and was running around a 12.7. That car put a smile on my face everyday.
