Should I get cams for my DD?

I have the HKS 264/272 and have used BC cam gears to toy around with after I read turboglenn's article on them.

Honestly I wish I'd never gotten the cam gears. They're just there for looks now. The 264/272 combo is just a drop in set which, if you ask me, is just perfect the way they are. No need for adjustable cam gears.
:)

If you must get cam gears, I would recommend ones with more than 3 bolts on the gear itself. You really don't want them to slip, trust me!

Wow i read his article on cam tuning too and thought it was pretty beast, what happened to you?

I tried a bunch of different combinations in 1* increments, retarding and advancing both cams. I must have tried about 20 different setups and compensated for them in my tune, and my 70-90 times were BEST in the stock position of 0/0. I felt no difference down low, in fact if anything I was only affecting my vacuum at idle. This might be because I have a cyclone intake manifold and I am always going to have low end torque, but I honestly feel like I didn't get any real changes.

Again, this is JUST for the HKS 264/272 on my setup. I think with 272s I would have noticed a little more difference.

Every setup is different though. Some people might notice significant changes throughout the powerband and some might be just like me. It's all about the setup. You are going to be happy with just the cams since they are drop in though, so why not spend money elsewhere?
:)

Used or new both work the same, just make sure there is no chips or deep scratches. I bought used HKS 272s and it ran perfectly. I also had 272/264 in my previous setup with a evo 3 16g and mildly tuned with safc neo and it was pretty damn quick. Its a perfect setup to help spool the bigger turbo abit faster but give you a farther redline point.
