Ok so there is a talon on Craigslist that the guy is selling for parts. I asked him what was wrong and hensaidnitnhad a spun bearing. It is a tsi that is eclipse converted. It is awd and I do. Have a gst that I love but I hate fwd. should I scrap up the cash and buy it or let it go? The guy wants 1200 I can prob get it for 900

take the 4g out of your gst and put it in the TSI.
Assuming nothing else is wrong with it.

you could do that or make your gst AWD. then you could sell off the rest of the parts and recoupe some of your money. i would go for it

if your "scraping money together" to get it i think your going to end up with a car you cant afford to fix or keep.

just because its a good deal doesnt always mean you should get it.

Link it up. If it has no rust, I will buy it, since I don't need to scrape any money together.

Well I would always beware of craigslist ads, its hard to find an honest seller these days. If you can go and look at the car before hand, then i'd say do that first. Take a look at the condition of the car, although the awd swap may be of interest, especially based on the price, if the car is thrashed, you might be buying a pile of scrap metal anyway.

Manual or auto trans and does it look like the engine has been modded? The reason I ask is because without being able to test drive the car, you have no idea what kind of shape the trans is in. You could be looking at a car with a junk motor and trans and have to scrape some more money together for a trans down the road if you want awd.

If you can get it for $700-900, it would be worth it for the awd swap alone (I would have gladly picked this up for my awd swap). Be sure to ask a lot of questions about the drivetrain (synchros, transfercase whine, rear diff, check axle boots, etc).

It runs and drives just with a small knock. I'm going to trade him my gst for it. The car is a five speed with all the upgrades mine has
