Should I buy this GSX?

Found a 96 GSX in somewhat rough condition. Motor runs, has 16g turbo, 4" exhaust, suspension, and 18" wheels. Down side is it needs a new flywheel. Timing belt was just replaced and parts of the head rebuilt. Needs paint badly and a new front bumper. Is this worth $1800? I got really ripped off on my RS and I've dumped alot of money into restoring it and slowly modifying it to gst/x trim. I'm not looking for another massive project. Something I could throw a lil extra at to have that gsx I've been dying to have.

$1800 for a gsx isn't a bad price, how much rust? Paint can be fixed right...

Whats the mileage like on it.

I haven't gotten this far yet. It seems like a good price and I wanted to have cash in hand and an reality check before I go mess up again. My wife is already giving me hell for even being interested. Not sure how much rust. Usually only cars near the coast in my state suffer from high rust but there is always that risk that it was kept there at some point. Let's say the body is in otherwise good condition. Given the tranny issue is it still an okay price?

I can get a replacement 2ga bumper for $20-40 locally and do the prep work myself. So it would only cost materials. Paint around is around $2000 but that includes all prep work and is based off recent quotes to have my RS brought back to stock color. My primary concern is the motor. I can take an ugly ass car to the strip but buying the car is worthless if I end up getting ripped off from the get-go. I've spent about $7500 on my RS including the price of the car and just minor upgrades and a complete rebuild. Essentially that car was barely worth $500 when I bought it and wouldn't have paid the 2k for it had I know what I know now. Nothing like being a DSM noob and making a stupid mistake, heh,

Needs a flywheel huh? So basically just assume youll be putting a new flywheel, clutch assembly, TOB, pivot ball and maybe a fork too. Gotta expect the worse with a DSM, cause it usually is the worst thing LOL.
Other than that, f paying 2k. Just get a guy on craigslist who does side jobs and get it done for a grand. I think, for MY area and what I see, 1800 isnt a bad price but its not great. I would go no higher than 1400 and thats with near zero rust.

Your still going to be putting money and time into it. Its a good deal, but is it something your looking to spend the money and time into getting it up to your standards of complete? Motor "runs" can mean allot also.
