Should I buy a 13b? And where?

Hey there, I'm wondering where I might find a 13G from the 1G autos? I am hesitant about buying one from a junkyard, but don't know where else I can get one. What's the life of these turbos? Should I be worried about one failing early on?

Your best bet for finding one is probably the classifieds on here. If you want a stock turbo, I would recommend a 14b off of the manual 1g's though.

I actually need it for my 89 Colt GT with the 4g61T. They are supposed to bolt up without any mods, replacing the stock 11b. So I'm looking for the 13g to negate the hassle of the 14b (I believe you need the lines, mani, 02 housing, ect).

I will check the classifieds...but they seem to be somewhat hard to acquire.

If you can bolt a 13g up to your colt then a 14b will bolt up. However i believe that 11b uses a different flange than the 1g auto 13g's.

Folks on the 4g61t.org forums are saying that the 13g works as a straight bolt on because you don't needs the water/oil lines to go with the 14b. Plus, I don't want to mess with upgrading the injectors, ecu, and all that jazz. I'd just like a little bit extra power.

Well im not sure how much of a upgrade a 13g is to a 11b, but any turbo upgrade should be followed by fuel and tuning.
