When I got my 90 it came with what appears to be a starion fmic.

The piping is routed the long route meaning my upper I/c pipe is routed in the same configuration as the stock smic. Personally I do not like this.

Im looking at buying another fmic tomorrow. The guy says it should work short route but im not sure. I run a 3.5" gm maf and would like suggestions on a upper I/c pipe that wont look so rigged up. How do you 1g guys with huge fmic's run short route?

Here is the intercooler I wanted to buy from the guy.

He said he had it on a 1g dsm but I would need to make brackets.

I went short punishment love really clean simple short pipes. Core was 200 shipped fitment was dead on fills my grille, love it.

VRSF and the Punishment racing FMIC kits are both good. But the VRSF allows you to keep your beloved fog lights.

Previous owner ditched the fogs.
Do you guys think the one in the ad I posted would allow short route?
Guess its hard to tell I need to get him to measure it.

0o0o0o... that is rigged up...

Anyhow,, I think short route is better less air for turbo to compress and cleaner with less couplers for BL's

I'd get If I were you a ETS kit if you have the budget it's really worth it.
Maybe find a used kit if not or make your own piping and get one of their Cores...To bad this wasn't last week they has a huge sale on all their stuff.

I use to have one of those "BIG" IC's and it's not worth it. the amount of time that you'll spend fixing some odd piping configuration or popping Ic pipes off or just have a plain and simple inefficient Intercooler is not worth it.
I've had a ETS FMIC kit for quite a few years now and have never popped a pipe off since the First Day I put it on, even hitting over 35+ psi a few times on accident and running 25-30psi the entire time... their Quality Fitment and Products are 2nd to none. IMHO And you can keep you Fogs.

Oh and BTW that front mount Will not Work as a Short route.

Cx racing on ebay shows the dimensions so does the website at least it did, cant see why it wouldnt now, picked min up last winter. It fits the entire grille. Check out my pictures.

The core looks like a Punishment 2g core.

Looking at the few 1g short route kits out there it seems that the core is with the inlet and outlets facing the car, not out to the sides. Someone with a 1g would know better then I, but I'm sure with some time and pipes you could run it in a long route, but I highly doubt short.

What's up man.
Well if this intercooler is a decent one then I might just get it. 50 bucks isn't bad and I can get that dent out with a adjustable wrench.
I really wanna run short route but if I have to run long route I guess I will.

Now that I think about it. To install the pipes you would also need someone to weld on a bov flange. So it would end up costing more then I thought at first. You could fix the one you have. Maybe re-hang it and fix the couplers/pipes?

Well if I do get this I guess I will have to get a new upper pipe already flanged. I hate but maybe I should ditch the gm maf. Im not sure how to run it and have it look clean.

If you replace the couplers you have with some nicer ones and a few t bolt clamps it will make it look a lot better, and they wont blow off. Just food for thought I guess tho. I know there was a place where you could get silicone couplers pretty cheap.

I just gotta find the site again...

Well remember my upper I/c pipe is like only 1 3/4.
Gonna replace the whole pipe.

If you do buy that Huge thing... .
Get a pic of the Inlets or look at them yourself Those FMIC's designs are hit or miss sometimes you can get a good one sometimes they don't even have internal louvers and you can see strait through them...

Like I said above here is a way Click here! they can set you up with pretty much and configuration you could want just pick it in the options... .

Ok guys, I have been scouring the web and looking at upper i/c pipes.

It looks like I am going to stay long route for now. So I am going to need a Upper i/c pipe setup for long route for a gm maf. I know dejon has them but I find it kind of hard to pay as much as some of these companies are asking.

So If anyone has any recommendations let me know. Im not much of a "piece" it together type of person and would rather just get something that is bolt on.

When I bought my car the upper pipe was and still is just hacked up really bad, I need to do something about it considering I blow the upper pipes on a daily basis.

I am going to take some pics and get some recommendations from you guys because I dont like the lower setup either.

Here is what I am dealing with. Its gotta go.

As far as the lower pipe. Is there another way to run it so I can use both fans. I have replacement fans that are not all hacked up. I have seen where its ran on top of the ic but I will have to lose the crash bumper.

Im not good at piecing stuff together so I just need some guidance.

Ok, I got the intercooler from the guy. Seems like a decent core I dunno. At any rate its too big for my car. In order for me to be able to run it I will have to run the lower IC pipe 180 back to the passenger side.

i will attatch a pic.
anyone here have experience with running it this way and what to do about mounting the bumper?

The front bumper use the fenders, i went the other way short route punishment really simple and clean. I was able to keep my crashbeam, been in a few accidents, gotta say my crash beam was a nice piece of insurance. Dont know how to mount it without the beam, nothing to mount too.
