Okay so I'm doing a build for 350whp-about 400whp, I was wondering if the things I have listed for the shortblock will be able to handle it.

It is a 7 bolt with revised split thrust bearings

0.020 over with evo 9 pistons, and reconditioned 7bolt rods with ARP rod bolts/balanced.

Block Work: Decked, Bored, Honed, Hot Tanked, Painted, New OEM Freeze Plugs, New OEM Main Bolts, Torque Plated.

Crankshaft: remanufactured crank with ACL bearings

Everything looks fine. The stock block can hold 350-400 but its good that you're firming it up a little. What compression are those Evo 9 pistons? Are they cast? It looks like your 7 bolt rods are the weekest link but you should be fine for your goals.

Why do you want to use OEM mains? Just curious, they will work fine.

The important things in building an engine are proper clerances, align honing the mains, and using a torque plate for boring the cylinders.

Sounds like you're well on your way, however.

I was gonna say, this engine build sounds like a dsmgraveyard build. OEM main bolts will work fine, in fact, I believe Brent Rau uses stock main bolts, or maybe it was rod bolts.......I forget, either way its fine.

As far as shortblock goes, it seems like its all there. Does it come with an OEM oil pump?

Did you mention a head gasket?

Evo IX pistons have compression ratio of 8.8:1 but that's only when used with a Evo head that has a combustion chamber volume of 43cc and their oem head gasket which is .034" thk.

DSM heads have a chamber volume of 47cc.
DSM head gaskets are .042" thk.

Evo pistons have a slightly less compression height.
Compression height is the distance from the center of the wrist pin to the crown of the piston.

Here have a look...

So they aren't better than the 2g ones?

no, can I reuse my old one?

so should I maybe use eagle rods, stock crank, and some 2g pistons or something over the evo ones?
