Got a 1992 talon tsi. Mostly stock with mbc and 2.5 downpipe. Basically this is just another set up question session.

Plans are:
650cc injectors
2g MAF
Walbro 255hp(already installed)
SAFC 2(dont have the money for link)
AFPR
Logger(already have it)

Far future:
Small or Large 16g(havent decided)
DSMlink

This will be my DD because I hate driving my gas guzzling Dodge. So im not going balls to the wall with it. My goal was around 300 whp. Only question/concern really is i've been doing some research and I know tha the SAFC 2 kinda maxes out at 650s. Ive never tuned before but have been around and worked on cars/airplanes most of my life. Are 650s really that hard to tune over 550s? Could 550s get me to my HP goal? I know they would probably be easier to tune but I was thining id have to push them past 80% duty cycle with this setup and goal.

Wanted to go with 650s for the future 16g but will get 550s for now if the SAFC is just too hard to tune 650s with

I never knew them to be harder to tune, never used the safc, but 550cc for a dd is fine, got a wideband? i would get one before dsmlink, or before a larger turbo.

I would just save your money now and get ecmlink even if you get v3 lite it's way better you really wont get anything out of that safc. I enjoy it but 650's and safc are not worth getting now escecially if you arent on a 16g already there will be no real power gains that you can't get already with the stock injectors and ecu settings. You got the 255 already so u should be good just do maintance and save up for 16g and ecmlink.

I've done complete maintnance on it. Thats where all my money has gone since i've owned it. I dont think this is what you are saying, but its sounds as if your implying I can get 300 whp with stock injectors and tune with only the 255 installed? Or are you saying basically its not worth it at all to upgrade anything else untill I get a dsmlink because the safc2 is pretty much useless?

I do plan on getting a wideband also. Sorry

Also was just saying that 650s are harder to tune then 550s via the SAFC 2

Agreed!:thumb: You can find ECMLINK on the classifieds for good deals with or without ECU, and i think is the best and safest way to keep your car running on top performance!:p

Everything is easyer with ECMTuning! No matter what you got planned for your car in the future wich thats the wonders of it! Bin doing alot of reading on there website, you should to!

+1 for putting a decent EMS (any of the above mentioned units) at the top of your list. I personally run an AEM ems on my dd VR4, she now gets 29 mpg highway ;)

(evo 8.5 turbo, 1000cc injectors) I know the AEM may not be in your future but you'll be able to put the car to MUCH better use with a real tune/EMS not just the SAFC piggy back aka band-aid fix option.
