Car was shifting fine a few days ago but now its gotten to the point where im like wtf happened. Clutch is fine cause once I push the stick into gear the car goes like nothings wrong. But its so hard to get it into the next gears, sometimes it feels way to soft like shifting to 2nd feels like nothing but its in gear. Maybe cause of my short shifter but I really dont know what to do.

Well, to start off simple you may want to look at the following:
  • Clutch fluid level. Consider bleeding it to remove possible air and/or old fluid.
  • Check for any leaks at the slave cylinder and under the steering column where the master cylinder goes through the firewall.
  • Check the condition of your shift linkage at the trans-axle side. Is there play in the rubber bushings there?
  • Check the level of the gear oil in the trans-axle.
  • Check for clutch adjustment using the following:

This should cover the easy stuff. After that, there is a bit of work ahead of you.
Hope this helps.

Clutch drag is when you depress the pedal completely, but the clutch doesn't disengage completely.

This can be a lot of different problems. It can be a hydraulic issues with the slave, master, or lines. The geometry of the clutch fork, slave cylinder rod, and pressure plate, worn pressure plate fingers, bent clutch fork, even crank walk. In a 1g car the clutch pedal mechanism wears out. But lots of times it's as simple as a pedal adjustment as posted in the link above.

Ill check the gear oil tomorrow, & whats clutch drag?

For your sake, I hope you consider checking most or all of the given advice other than the gear oil. Clutch drag is explained in the link if you are interested in checking it out.

I know the syncronizers could be bad. One way to check is put it in gear down hill an if it pops itself out of gear thats a sign of bad syncro. If thats not it then do the simple things like 2gmitsueclipse said up above

i still say its low on fluid or its old fluid that needs to be changed. in an auto, low fluid would cause it to slip or not even move. i'm still gonna side with low or old worn out tranny fluid

When I first start my car and drive it while its cold, I can shift 1 - 5. But once I warm up it gets harder and harder to get into 5th gear, later it will feel like 5th gear isnt even there anymore, and I cant use it. 3rd pops out of gear, but when I push it in harder it stays.. Whats my problem, please dont tell me tranny ;(

Have you tried changing the fluids? Try using a high quality fluid see if that helps. Lucas makes some robust stuff. When it's cold the tolerances are more loose. As the tranny heats up,expansion. If no lube that expansion will bind up the works.

I would also check all the shift linkage components as well. Cables. Bushings. Shifter.

Adjust clutch.

Do all the easy checks first then you can worry if you're gonna need a new tranny or not.

Sorry but it sounds like internal tranny problem - the typical case of worn out input/intermediate shaft bearings that happen eventually to all M/T trannys which then typically cause gear popouts. When the bearings get too far worn, the input/intermediate shaft preload/endplay get too far out of spec and then the shaft moves along it's axis causing gear popout (http://www.wcengineering.com/articles/popout.html).

However first check all the things the previous posters have said, including loose shift linkages and tranny mounts. If not any of those, remove tranny end cover and make sure the two 36mm nuts are tight and staked: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/5th-gear-shift-inside-tranny.480233/#post-153435439. If none of this you'll unfortunately probably have to pull the tranny for rebuild.

One possible reason the tranny may shift better when cold is the thicker gear oil may assist with worn synchros. When the fluid gets warm that is no longer true. Changing synchros and bearings isnt particularly difficult but it is specialized and quite tedious. Ive done quick and dirty changes where I didn't reshim the bearings but I wouldnt recommend it. I just didnt have time and it was a 600 $ beater car with no second gear at all.
