Shifting problem

okay. So I am having the same problem. I purchased the car(92 Talon 1G FWD) and did the clutch right away about 4500 miles ago. I am getting these weird shifting problems occasionally. today it got really bad. If the car is off it works just fine. When the car is on that's a whole different story. My clutch engages and disengages just fine. But my gearshift will not let me go into to gear very easily. HELP!!! Just bough a brand new turbo with intake and all that fun stuff... Want that in there. But if my car is not working don't want to waste my time.

Have you tried changing the tranny oil?

not since I replaced the clutch. Didn't think to do that

What type of clutch did you put in? I once put in a cheap disk and one of the torsion springs on the clutch disk busted in no time causing smilar problems. just a thought.

i have got tier three F1 racing clutch. The flywheel is stock.

That could be the problem. Try to stay away from ebay clutches.

is there any other explanations that you can think of. I do not want to drop the tranny unless i absolutely have to.

Might need to adjust the shifter cables, or maybe your clutch isn't disengaging all the way. Do this. Turn the car off. Put the car in gear. Push clutch in, start car. While keeping the clutch pushed in, and car in gear, rev the car to about 6k rpm. Does the car start to creep? Obviously do this on level ground. If it moves, then you need to adjust your clutch.

Thanks... I found two problems. A bolt running from the tranny by the slave cylinder to the engine was loose. And my slave cylinder was shot. It is all done. And everything works perfect now. thanks so much guys. The clutch was not disengaging all the way.

Loose trans bolts tend to make disengagement tough.
