alright that would be great... i should be gettin the short shifter and the knob next week hopefully

Razo leather from MachV, soft bmw style leather fits right in hand very short and smallish diameter, shorter and thinner than a 2G knob and I like the red baseball stitching.

since this thread has been recently brought from the dead, why not contribute to it! here's my brand new sparco Fast-R shift knob (mine is darker than that, some kind of bleuish gunmetal) Feels great, pretty heavy as well! wouldn't want anything else.

Check my Pictures in my profile, I got a picture of the Counterweight, IMO the BEST knob I have ever felt/used. My friend has the APC neon light one (he got it so he could blow smoke and make the whole car light up) it's a nice throw feel but sooo rice looking... I've felt one of the momo's, didn't like the feeling in my hand, but the Counterweight fit perfectly in my hand.

I have the momo race knob that has aluminum on bottom, and the leather on top. It seriously looks funny with the stock shifter because of the height. I looked into chopping down the stock shifter to bring the knob down but our shifters arent 1 size all the way down. I would only be able to go maybe half an inch before the bottom ring-thing on the shift knob wouldnt fit. My b&m short shifter is coming in the mail tomorrow, so hopefully that will bring it down. (or ill chop that one if needed) I dont exactly love the feel of the shift knob, but it matches the interior. just my 2 cents here -matt

Okay..sorry so late. Here is a picture of a b&m short shifter with the greddy counter weight shift knob on a 2g eclipse.

i've got an evo 8 shift knob. best part is i got it for free because my friend with an evo decided he wanted a different shift knob. honestly it is the nicest shift knob ive ever used. not too light and not too heavy just right.

what is the deal with weighted or non weighted shift knobs? example i either want this Razo 340g shift knob or the 46g shift knob.

For some reason i heard it is not good to have weight on the shifter when in gear?

also what is better heavier or light shift knob?

i have a greddy counterweight shift knob, it is heavier than a stock one, that's for sure,.. having weight on the shift knob is referring to resting our arm on it will driving, it wears out the shift forks faster than usual, i doubt a weighted shift knob will hurt anything. i know 2 other people with the same knob and we haven't experienced any problems, so you should be fine.

yes exactly, i heard that by resting your arm on the shifter you wear out the forks and that really sucks because it is pretty damn comfortable. So you dont think that by having a 340g shifter on there would wear it out? but is there a better feel with a heavier shift knob or does it not really make a difference?

Joe,

I've got the heavy version of the stock knob from MachV and I've had no problems. It's all a matter of feel and I prefer a heavier knob for gear engagement. It's up to you, but you'll be fine with either the heavy or a lighter version.

Cheers,

Andy

I had the stock 2g shift knob and liked it, it's heavy enough for some. BUT i've tried the Greddy Counterweight shift knob and it makes shifting so much more accurate. You never get lost in between gears especially with the tricky 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th.

The extra weight makes a difference when you're speed shifting, truuuust me. WELL WORTH IT :thumb:

My original leather knob started shedding on me so I cut the leather off and used just the plastic one underneath. It was too small and I never liked the way it felt so I traded it for an OBX weighted knob. It looks exactly like the old Trust weighted knobs. I absolutely hate this thing, it's goofy looking and being in south Florida it gets too hot to touch during the summer. So I finally broke down and ordered a new OEM weighted knob from MachV. It's sitting on my desk and feels so nice, can't wait til my car is running again so I can put it in.

I have had a sparco globe x for about 1 1 /2 years now and it looked great when I bought it but now all the chrome has flaked off an it lookes like crap. It also has those damn set screws that never hold tight. I tried a greddy counterweight round in my friends 2g but it is too small of a ball wih the size of my hands. The pics I've seen of the round razo knob look good and I think it screws right on (correct me if I'm wrong) if so where can I get one?

This is what is currently on my car, feels great, fits right in my palm, installation was easy, and alot cooler here in AZ

Sorry the pics are small, best I could do.

Is that the knob from the F&F n/a turbo without a turbo eclipse?

I have the Greddy Counter-weight knob and I like the ball shape. It contours better and you don't really have to grasp it as opposed to other knobs. I have it combined with a b+m knockoff ss, shifter base bushings, and the cable-end bushings. It's threaded so you don't have to worry about it coming off of the shifter like those universal ones. I had a sparco universal knob and it annoyed the hell out of me when it would come off.

The only drawback is that it's metal, so of course is absorbs heat and cold. Though cold isn't that big of a deal, it's more difficult trying to shift when your hand is being burnt.

I used a metal razo shift knob, its the shape of stick. And it's pretty tough to shift with, especially when your hand is filled with blisters. So i am currently using the stock shift knob until i can finally find ball shaped shifter that suites me well...

I had one of those aftermarket ones,it was an APC(thats right, the good stuff ROFL ).It would never stay tight and i had to tighten it once a week.It got really annoying although it was way better then the horsecock 1g shiftknob. As a matter of fact,it's on my computer desk right now.I put in a 2g OEM leather one and man,all i can say is,why didn't i do this in the first place! It feels so nice now,it even goes better with my interior.Putin the APC one for sale this week,it's basically brand new,i used it for like 2 months before i sad screw this...

Rotora Carbon Fiber Ball Shift Knob. I got it for free+shipping on another site. I love it. I don't know quite how much it weighs, but on my B&M Short Shifter, it's easier to get into gear. The CF also doesn't get as hot as leather or metal, but it does get cold. Good news: It warms up pretty quickly.
