Alrite, So this hot chick asks me to install this purple neon shift knob right, so I pimp it up and do it all nice for her right, so like 30min later we are driving and the freaking neon inside BLOWS!!!! it BLOWS!!! and now all you hear is a rattle, it doesn't light, and it smelt like crap at first. So I know this gurl really loves this neon stuff shit knob, could someone help me find maybe an LED Purple shift knob or something, or a good neon one that won't blow???

its cool man..u can admit its for ur car...after all..both are purple :p ...i would say go ebay or autozone

my car is monaco red  and its getting repainted to anodized red to match the stuff i painted in my interrior, its gonna be sexy sexy SEXY :thumb: but autozone??? no way??? truly autozone... come on man... autozone is like... the local ollies discount store without the discount...

yes, but she really loves this type of neon shifter... so... since this neon inside stopped working due to vibrations, what if i used some rubber inside to expand it to fit instead of those plastic filler things you get with the kit? wouldn't the rubber soak up alot of the vibration??? And what if i put a fuse in the line on the positive side so it doesnt short it out, which could be another possibility.

Why dont you just get a NICE shifter? I would never do that to my car to impress any lady. And like my man said above, its ok, we understand its for you. :thumb:

LOL, but do you guys think puttin a rubber like piping rather than that plastic fitter mobober there will make it stop vibrating all around and bustin the neon in like 30 seconds...

I would really like to know if anyone else supports my idea of that the rubber insert would help absorb the shock from the shifter vibrating ( a common problem on escorts )...

the shifter in an escort is seriously like... it consantly vibrating when in gear, i dunno why or whatever, but it just does... so will the rubber work to absorb the vibration and stop blowing up the friggin neon?

forget the neon, just grab some purple leds a few resistors and a soldering iron and go to work.

I have it hooked up to the cigerette lighter wires, and the lighter does have a fuse in the fuse box, so there is DEFINATELY a fuse on the positive wire, I just believe highly it is from the vibrating of the shifter rod, because after the neon blew it started rattling like a mudskipper.... So I am thinking that if i put in a piece of rubber instead of that plastic tighener fitting thingy that it will help with the vibration blowing the neon. And yes... LOL LEDs... I wish she would have gotten an LED one, but she's cheaper than my grandma on social security...
